sea54change Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 I was trying for a hotel in SoHo close to Pace U.Ended up with 3.5* Affinia Manahttan which actually works out very well, as I am arrving into NYC at Penn Station via train. I am able to walk to the hotel from the train station. :) It's a 1 block walk. I'll take a cab to Pace (3.11 miles away) the next morning. If I knew more about the subway, I might try that.Of course, I used the PRICELINE link at the top of the page. :)
thereuare Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Congratulations on your win!Do note that this property has been assigning designated small rooms to most (not all) PRICELINE customers... you may need to speak up again, like you did at the Affinia Shelburne, to inquire about a room change if you're not satisfied with the one assigned. If you are interested in taking the subway, let me know exactly where you need to go and i'll look if there are any easy/direct subway routes for you to take.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. sea54change Posted October 14, 2009 Author Report Posted October 14, 2009 Thank you for the offer with help on the subway.I'm meeting up with a friend who will be my guide.
sea54change Posted October 17, 2009 Author Report Posted October 17, 2009 Reporting back on my stay Thursday night 10/15.The room was HUGE! There was a big living room, a FULL kitchen, a separate bedroom with a door, 2 bathrooms and 2 big TVs. I could have had a party for 25 people. The drawback was that the room faced 7th Ave, and I could hear the street noise (sirens, trucks etc) ALL night long. I think being on the 23rd floor intensified the noise- as it ricocheted off the canyon walls of the surrounding buildings. I didn't sleep very well. Also the shades were a light color material which did not make a dent on all the light from the street. I like dark quiet rooms.I didn't ask to be moved, it was only for 1 night. Next time, I will request a room AWAY from the street when I check in.The Affinia Shelburne was a much quieter hotel. The BEST part about the hotel was it's location relative to Penn Station. I walked underground from Penn to Madison Sq Garden, exited on 7th Ave and crossed the street to the hotel. No taxis, no traffic to the airport.
