dcganalyst Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Hello! I would appreciate some help on a bidding strategy for a stay from 12/4 - 12/9. I am looking to stay near the Grand Central station as I will need to commute early in the morning to Stamford on two of the days.I would prefer 3.5* or above.$250-$300 would be my cap. Thanks!
thereuare Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Grand Central is in the Midtown East zone... is this the only zone you're willing to accept? (or would you be fine with another nearby zone, which if not walkable, you could just take a taxi over in the morning)Are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? Also note that at the 3.5* level in the MTE zone is the Millenium UN, which although nice and gets pretty good reviews, is about 15+ minute walk to Grand Central... would this be an acceptable outcome? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there. dcganalyst Posted October 13, 2009 Author Report Posted October 13, 2009 My first choice would be the least expensive walkable 3.5* or above (Millenium UN would be fine). I don't want to spend more than $300, but I would be willing to be a short cab ride from Grand Central. Thanks for the help and I will use the links!
AaronJB Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 What appears to be the Millennium UN is showing for these dates on HOTWIRE (a 3.5* MTE w/fitness, pool, rest, business, 'net and tennis) for $239. Given that, you could possibly try bidding on PRICELINE in the $180-200 range in an attempt to get this property (or another 3.5* in the area) for less. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
thereuare Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Did you want to go with the HOTWIRE offer (believed to be the Millenium UN) or try for a lower price for a 3.5* hotel thru PRICELINE? (where you could receive any 3.5* rated hotel in the zone... not necessarily the Millenium UN)Thanks in advance for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for your purchases. dcganalyst Posted October 14, 2009 Author Report Posted October 14, 2009 I would like to try for a lower price. In my previous post I meant that the 15min walk from the Millennium was fine. I just tried $200 in MTE 4*...rejected added 3.5* and it was rejected again. I used the PRICELINE link. Thanks
thereuare Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Are you familiar with and/or using re-bid zones? (see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained)If you're new to re-bidding it's strongly recommended you confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding. You have FIVE re-bid zones available at the 4* level and THREE re-bid zones available at the 3.5* level. Thanks for using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.
