Priceline Hotel: 3.5* NYC (Downtown-Soho-Financial District) Marriott Financial

wife and i going to nyc for the weekend. she is frugal (a good thing), and therefore pushed really hard to book a hotel through priceline. we ended up getting the marriott near ground zero for $170/night (probably not that good of a deal, it was the first time we ever used priceline).

ANYWAYS

my wife doesnt know that im surprising her by bringing in a couple of her girlfriends for the weekend. now im stuck as to how to book their room (i told them that i would cover the cost). only need 1 night, this saturday. i called up the marriott, and the reservation lady, dawn, while being overly polite and courteous, could only give me that extra room on saturday night for $370 (HA!).

SO

how do i get an extra room for something no more than $250? is there no way that i can work priceline to have a high chance (>90%) of giving me a room at the same marriott? if not, i think my best option (sadly) is to just switch our room to a double room, and let my wife's friend stay on the other bed (which is rather sad, but my wife again is frugal and no way would she approve of spending more than $250 for this girlfriend.)

You can't target a specific property when using PRICELINE, you're subject to any hotel in the zone at the star rating you select.

Why not use PRICELINE for the solo nite your wife's friend needs? If she ended up at a different hotel, would it be so bad? (especially since you're paying :) )

Rooms in NYC with 2 beds are often at a premium, the hotel may not let you "simply switch to a room with two beds"... they may enter your request for such a room, but not guarantee it (or charge an additional fee for a room with two beds)
