klempey Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 I looked at the calendar of wins, and it seemed like I could get a good deal for our dates of travel.I tried bids from 110-155 including 3-4 stars in MTE, MTW, Chelsea, MSG, TS.I was hoping to get the same 110.00 deal someone else got for the Wyndham Garden Chelsea Hotel...or the 140.00 deal for the Roosevelt (MTE).Am I doing something wrong? Have prices jumped that much since the other bidders?
thereuare Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 Yes, for Fall dates in NYC rates have increased over the last few months... how high did you bid at each star level, or did you bid $155 for 3* and above? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. rain Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 I've tried dozens of times to get a hotel around MSG/Chelsea on 10/24. My bid was as high as $140 for a 3* and $138 for a 2 1/2*. Still no luck at this point. My husband told me that the Yankees has 2 playoff games that weekend so the hotel will be tight. Sigh...
thereuare Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 rain,I don't think it's the Yankee games, but rather this is an expensive time of year in NYC and $140 for a 3* hotel doesn't have a high probability of succeeding this time of year based upon current rated. If you'd like help with your own stay please start a NEW TOPIC.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. rain Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Thanks thereuare! You are right about the low probability of getting a 3* at a reasonable price in Manhattan. So after spending a couple of days trying on priceline through the link here, I finally gave up. Fortunately, I found out this afternoon that the Sheraton at Flushing (Sheraton LaGuardia East) just dropped almost $50. So I just took it and the total came out to be $151.53 for a room on 10/24-10/25. You can get a buck cheaper if book through Travelocity. Anyways, I think it's a good choice for people who want to save a few bucks and still be able to get a 3*. The 7 train and the Long Island Railroad to Manhattan are just minutes away by walking.
