lamboworld Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 April 25 2010 through May 4 2010Have bid $100 $105 $110 and $115. I have seen a couple of people get the Hyatt for $115. Am I bidding too early for my trip?Any ideas would be helpful. We bid on Priceline for the same area in Oct 2008 and we had to pay $250 per night for 3 days. I don't really want to go that high again.
thereuare Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! It's never too early to bid, but also make sure that you don't overbid... you should this time to try and see if you can get something accepted at the low end of the range. For a further discussion see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.I assume you're bidding on a Resort class property? While i'm guessing it won't take the $250 you previously had to pay, it will likely take more than the $115 you're currently bidding. Use the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins to search previous years around this time to get the historical range and try to 'bottom fish' near the low end of the spectrum. lamboworld Posted October 12, 2009 Author Report Posted October 12, 2009 I don't guess that I have a maximum but I don't really want to pay $250 either. I have used priceline for the past 6 years and I have a real good idea about how it works. I have probably won 20 to 30 hotels. I am just new to this board.I was just a little puzzled when I saw other bidders winning at $115 in Kaanapali and my bid was not accepted.I will check out the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins to see what other paid in April.
thereuare Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 I'm assuiming those $115 wins were in slow months, as well as during the recent 'financial crisis' and when the economic outlook was even less certain that it is today... a lot of travel (especially business travel) came to a hault and hotel occuapncy was very low, inspiring many hotels to offer very deep discounts. We look forward to hearing about, and helping with, your current and future travel plans. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
