Priceline Hotel: 4* Miami (Downtown) Hyatt Regency

I just booked a cruise out of Miami on Nov. 8th, and am looking to get a pre-cruise hotel the night before. I just want to make sure I'm bidding on the correct zone because I am not familiar with Miami and don't know where the ports are in location to the maps for bidding. Can anyone help?

Also, where would you start the bidding? I'm thinking 4* (not sure about anything less, so any advice would be appreciated!), maybe throwing out a bid around $55?

Thanks in advance for any help!

The Downtown zone is closest to the port. You can use this site: Hotels by the Pier to see the pier location as well as the hotels nearby (then compare the map there to the zones on PRICELINE)

If you want to try for a 4* hotel let us know your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

I'd like to stay under $100, anything closer to $50 would be better!

At the 4* level in Miami you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Downtown...

Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $58, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $63, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $65

I'd start with the above, if rejected just post back and we'll revise accordingly.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

It appears you're using the "retail" version to determine your re-bid zones, which can't be used for this purpose.

From the Priceline Re-Bidding Explained link above:

The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a PRICELINE page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time. (NOTE: for most users Priceline has updated their interface making the above process easier... simply check a zone and note the highest star rating available within each zone, UNcheck that zone and checkmark the next zone, repeating the process)

Please use the above method and confirm yoru SIX re-bid zones with the board. If you're still confused just post back and we'll break it down further.

1) Use the search box on the top right corner of the board to enter your information and click 'GO'

2) Select the first zone, Aventura, by placing a checkmark in the box... scroll down to the star rartings and see the highest star rating offered in that zone, write it down on a piece of paper

3) UNCHECK the first zone, select the 2nd zone only, and repeat the process of scrolling down and writing down the highest star rating offered in that zone

4) repeat the process for each PRICELINE zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected each time you look at the available star ratings

Let us know in a reply to this thread the highest star rating you see offered in each zone and we'll find our where you're making a mistake.
