Had a pre-planned trip to the S NJ area. Flew into Philly airport.

Used PRICELINE to bid for a 4 star for 2 days. First bid of $58 rejected. Second bid for 3.5 star at $51 was accepted. Hotel was Holiday Inn, next to the Philadelphia sports stadium. Not a problem as it's very accessable off the I-76 and only 5 minutes from the airport, yet no airport noise. Not a problem until I found out that the baseball team had a 2 game that day, and 2 more 3 days later. Parking lot is tightly restricted during baseball games. They sell parking to game attendees, but hotel guests get free parking as long as you have the parking permit the desk gives you to display. Getting in and out before and after a game can take time.

Hotel is older style Holiday Inn basic. Nice staff, if somewhat indifferent. Pool is closed. Business center w/ 2 computers and printer is free, so printing boarding passes is easy. On site restaurant (Benny the Bum's) is OK, somewhat pricy for what they offer. Also, gets very busy during and after the game.

Room is older Holiday Inn basic. Decent beds and bedding. Nice pillows offering 2 different styles (soft, firm) and 4 pillows per bed. Old style 25" tube TV's w/ basic cable and HBO. No pay movies. In room wireless broadband is free but requires registration. Bathroom has free coffee maker. Ice machines only on every other floor. Entire floors are non-smoking.

Hotel's.com price showed lowest price at $125 a night. I had to stay an extra 4 days due to business. Went down to front desk and tried to get them to book at PL rate, but they flat out said no way. Best price they would offer was $135 a night, plus tax. Jumped back online and entered 3.5 star at $50. refused. Re tried a 3* at $47 a night, accepted. Holiday Inn airport. Crazy.

If you bid a 3 or 3.5 star near the airport, you will most likely get the Holiday Inn.

Well worth the money at $50 plus tax per night, but be aware it's an older property and it shows.

10 minutes to downtown Philly. 5 minutes across the bridge to NJ ($4 toll to get back).

Restaurants nearby, but you will need a car or cab to get to them.
