Priceline Hotel: Looking for 4* in SSF - Nov 2009

Hi, I'm a new member and my first post on this forum. I've been searching aorund the site for an hour or so and loving the tips and tricks so far! A good friend passed on your site name and raved about using it, so now my turn! I plan on going to San Fran in November from 11/6 through 11/8, flexible even for following weekend. I'm trying to get a 4* hotel in the following areas:

Financial District, SOMA, USE, USW

Can anyone offer some insight into my first purchase. Also curious about what a split bid is?

i am also traveling near the same dates, 11/8-11/10. i'd like to stay in the same areas you mentioned, and this is my first time as well. i want a 4star, & would be willing to pay up to $150/night.
