travis Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 Route: IND to BOSDates: 1/20 / 1/23I bid $135 on this route via Priceline, but it was denied. After fees and taxes, $135 would have become $169, which was the highest price I would pay without selecting the specific route and keeping the frequent flyer miles.I bought the route instead on Orbitz for $186 (inc fees and taxes).Seems as though there isn't much of a discount to be had on this route at this time via Priceline. Also, the fares on this route jumped substantially in the past couple of days. I don't know whether this is true on other routes as well. Maybe the surviving airlines are raising fares as the failing ones die off?-- Travis
thereuare Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 There currently isn't much of a discount to be had on most air routes lately. As the airlines have been in trouble fares have come down in order to fill the planes... the result is fewer vacant seats (to give to Priceline) as well as not much margin to offer deep discounts.
