Robby Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Hi,I'm looking for a (very) last minute hotel in NYC from tomorrow (Oct 9) for 3 nights.I've never used priceline or hotwire and was wondering if you could suggest a strategy for me given my travel begins tomorrow! How much would i need to spend for a 4* close to Times Square??Thanks...
Romelle Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 I'm not one of the pros here, but will give you a couple ideas while you are waiting for them to respond. For starters, you can bid twice for tomorrow night. Once now, and once again in 24 hours. There are some limitations to a same day bid:"Please note: Since you are requesting a reservation for tonight, your choice of areas may be limited. In addition, priceline can only service same-day bookings up to 11 PM ET. Select from the available options below to continue, or you may click the "PREV" button below and change either your city or check-in date." From PL by starting to do a today's bid.HOTWIRE didn't have any 4*s for your dates, but had a 2* at a whopping $354. Even a 2* airport hotel (JFK) was $83. You probably can do a little better via PRICELINE bidding. At this late date, you need to consider as many areas as possible. Also, it would be worth your while to understand free rebidding if you are going for the higher star levels. Just do a search here on "free rebids".You can take a look at what other bidders have gotten by using the Calendar of Wins above. Just enter your dates and look at NY-PRICELINE. You can link through from this site to some other possibilities like "last minute travel" and "Hotels.com" - look under the Support/Travel Links tab above. Also, always good to link from here when using Priceline and Hotwire - top of page, right and left respectively. If you put in another post now with your budget limitations and desired star level and areas, you will enable the pro responding to give you more detailed suggestions more quickly. Romelle

AaronJB Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)What have you bid up to/for so far? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase. Please do not start a new thread for this stay.
thereuare Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Have you bid at all yet?Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?I assume price is more important than your zone preference above? Did you want to try up to your limit first in MTE or MTW, then if rejeted start over for CPS, etc, etc... or is your objective the least expenisve in any of the acceptable zones you've listed above?Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
