Gallus50 Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 This win was a complete mistake. I needed to be north (in Glen Allen, Ashland or Doswell) near Kings Dominion and misread my note on free rebids. (Midlothian is a free rebid for 4*, but not 3.5*.) My third rebid was accepted at this Sheraton in Midlothian, much to my chagrin. Bidding History was: GA $45, GA + Airport $50, GA, Airport + Mid $56. Accepted. Oooops! Went around & around with PL Customer Service. I've never used a do-over that they will occasionally give you, but in this case they offered one and then took it back. This room will be going empty that night. Wish there was something I could do about it.... like give it to a homeless person or something.
thereuare Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Sorry to hear of your bidding error... it happens to all of us at one time or another. I think the way to rationalize it is that this stay is ~$100 and you've saved more than that using PRICELINE over the years. It's a longshot, but keep tabs to see if this property happens to be downgraded by PRICELINE in the next few weeks (at which point you'd be entitled to a refund) and/or that the hotel offers all the amenities that are 'required' to maintain a 3.5* rating by PRICELINE.Hope your future bidding goes more smoothly... and don't let it get you down :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Gallus50 Posted October 9, 2009 Author Report Posted October 9, 2009 Thanks, thereuare. Your comments make me feel a bit better. I did probably save over $500 on accommodations on my recent trip to NorCal, so I guess I'm still ahead in terms of the big picture. BTW - Rack rate appears to be $119 pre-paid for this hotel, $139 for regular reservation.
