xgeunc Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 We are going to San Diego on 12/29, and will stay for two nights. Want to stay at a 4* hotel in either Downtown/Harbor Island or Coronado Area. It seems Coronado is much more expensiveHotwire gives me a quote of $99 for 4* in Harbor Island (customer favorite), most likely Sheraton.Any idea on what I should I bid on Priceline?Thank you
TravelGuy Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 Hi there, welcome aboard! If you'd rather stay downtown, I would suggest bidding 4* for downtown @ $65 and increase $4 with your free rebids - you've got 7 of them. I suspect you'll hit somewhere around $75-90. For Coronado, it will probably take about $110 on Priceline.
xgeunc Posted December 10, 2004 Author Report Posted December 10, 2004 Thank you for the response. I will try that.I just saw the downtown area is close to the water, thought it would have nice views. Any other areas that are recommended for stay in San Diego?
TravelGuy Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 The Coastal zone is good - 3 of the 4, 4* hotels that have come up in that zone have at least some kind of water view; the 4th isn't on the water but very nice. Winning bids starting around $65 for that zone. I would rate that 3rd though at the 4* level among the zones you're considering.
xgeunc Posted December 10, 2004 Author Report Posted December 10, 2004 Thanks again.I won the bid at $80 and got Sheraton San Diego Hotel and MarinaNow I am going to need some help on get hotels in Palm Springs, and there will be less free bids. I will start a new thread
thereuare Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 That's great news... congratulations on your win!Do you recall what bid was rejected before you were accepted at $80?Thanks... and have a great stay! TravelGuy Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 Nice savings over Hotwire. This hotel has two towers, East and West, and the consensus from reviews is that the East is a lot better, so you probably would want to ask for that at check-in.
