We are trying to book a room at a 5 star on the Strip checking in on 10/30 and checking out on 11/1. There is only one 5 star showing up on those dates at $199 a night. It has a 90% recommendation on customer reviews. The ameninties are: Casino , Fitness Center , Pool(s) , Restaurant(s) , Business Center, High-speed Internet Access , Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby , Spa Services. Do you have any idea what hotel it is?

My second question is in regards to King Bed vs Queen Beds. We are three people and would need Queen Beds. Is there any way to ensure Queen Beds?

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

The above is a match for the Venetian so that would be our best guess for this property.

Given you need a room for three people, are you searching for triple occupancy on your HOTWIRE search?

The Venetian usually charges extra ($30/nite iirc) for rooms with two beds, and your abilty to get such a room would be based upon availability at time of check-in. However, i believe the rooms there are all have pull-out sofabeds if that would work for your needs, although to avoid an additional charge you'd still want to keep it 'hush' at check-in that you'll actually be three people (ie- just have one/two people go to the desk at check-in while the other walks about the lobby or eslewhere in the hotel)

I recently booked a $173/night room at 5-star Center Strip Hotel (September 19-21, 2009) and got the Wynn Resort. We actually booked it after 6pm the night before we check-in (Sept 18) to get that rate--we waited until the last minute as the rates began dropping during the week prior to check-in. We had a good suspicion that it was the Wynn because of the reviews (500+ reviews, one explicitly talking about the view of the golf course--and we all know only one hotel on the strip actually has it's own golf course ON the strip).

I am currently looking at the same weekend you are looking at (Oct 3-Nov 2) and Hotwire is putting a 5-star hotel at just $169. This time, there are only 200+ reviews, but one review specifically talks about 3 tvs, great bathroom "to die for" and a step-down living room--i.e. either Venetian or Pallazzo. (current amenities shown are resort, suite, casino, fitness center, restaurants, pool, business center, internet--but no golf or spa)

As you can see, if you read some of the comments from the reviews, you can guess what hotel you'll be getting. Either way, if you look at the boundaries of Hotwire's Center Strip map, the only 5-star hotel properties would be Bellagio, Venetian, Pallazzo, Wynn, and Encore--all of which can claim almost the same amenities. Curiously, if you look at all the amenities a hotel can have, there is a "S" for suite/studio and "R" for resort. Most 5-star properties can claim resort status, but if you look at the qualifications needed for the "S," it should be a hotel with a larger room and separate living area. You would imagine only Pallazzo and Venetian can claim these as they are the only central strip hotels that have a separate living room as their standard room. It's tricky, as all these hotels can book golf outings, but only the Wynn/Encore have a course on the strip.

By the way, when we actually checked-in to the Wynn, the desk person told us the the walk-up rate for the Sept weekend we stayed was $189 for Saturday and $99 for Sunday, making it $144/night vs the $173/night we paid. If you can wait until the last minute, you may be able to get a good deal, but the walk-up rate may still be better. However, the weekend we are both looking at (Halloween) may be a busy weekend that will require booking early to make sure you have a room.

Hi, this may be a really stupid question (so apologies up front) but where do you find the hotel reviews on Hotwire? I'm looking at a 5 star centre strip but I can't find a link to any customer reviews.

Thanks

Paul.
