infinite_dream Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 We [2 Adults and 2 Kids (8 & 9)] are going to be in New York for New Years (Dec 28 to Jan 4, which is Monday to Monday)Our first choice would be a hotel, but I am also looking at apartment rentals.I am realizing now likely I should have been looking a while back. One thing I noticed is the hotwire price for after new years (i.e. Jan 1 through the 4th) drops $50 to $75 per night, but this doesn't seem to be reflected in the overall price for the 28th to the 4thOur first trip to NY (some things we are thinking of doing): Big Apple Greeter (pending volunteer) and Subway Times Square Broadway show Souvenir Shopping + Toy/Candy Store (F.A.O. Schwarz, Toy R Us, Dylan's Candy Bar) Dim Sum in China Town Ice skating at Central Park Top of the Rock Grand Central Terminal Holiday Laser Show? Statue of Liberty Enjoying the Food!Any thoughts/recommendations?
thereuare Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Given the price difference between the NYE dates and post-NYE dates you may want to consider SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID.Also, PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, so using PRICELINE in NYC, where rooms are notoriously small and many only have one bed and can't accomodate a rollaway, can be risky if you're actually quad occupancy. If this is a risk you're not willing to take then HOTWIRE may be a better option as it allows you to search for up to quad occupancy and guarantees sleeping accomodations for everyone yo include in your search.Once you decide upon a hotel vs. apartment let us know and we'll take it from there. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
