Hi all this is my first time using this board, i have a short term request as i need to book ahotel in NYC next week after a change in travel plans, am coming from the UK and heard about the priceline bidding process but have not used it yet, i would prefer Midtown east side and 3* and above but dont mind really and want to pay no more than $180 USD + fees. i will use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to support the site.

Yes just need the hotel on the nigh of the 15th get to JFK at around 7.30 pm and depart NYC on the 16th in the afternoon by train so somewhere not too far away from grand central station was what i had i mind

I am thinking of a Bid of $175 for midtown East and Midtown west, do u think this will gain any sucess for october 15th 1 night, 3* and above

Welcome to BetterBidding!

My guess is that $180 will probably fall a little short for this nite, but we can certainly give it a try. However, do you also want to include other nearby zones (such as CPS and/or Times Square) A taxi from just about anywhere in these other zones to Grand Central should be less than $10, so if these other zones are less than MTE and/or MTW, it would be more of a total savings to take the cheaper hotel and spend $10 for a taxi than to pay more to be in the MTE or MTW zones (and from MTW you'd need to take a taxi to Grand Central anyway)

Let us know your thoughts and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.

that sounds reasonable to me, dont ideally want Times square a bit too hectic But central park south woudl be fine, I read on another thread that chelsea has no 4* hotels so u can get free rebids by adding that to your criteria

so maybe 4* MTW, CPS, MTE and Chelsea at $190, thoughts ??

At the 4* level you actually have FIVE such re-bid zones. See Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or conifrm your re-bid zones with the board (strongly recommended) before bidding.

If you read the above link and are confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you.

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you're happy with the results and this works well for your needs. Did you try to bid for a higher rated hotel and were turned down or did you start at the 3 star level?

Thank you for sharing your win with the board and helping us add this property to the Priceline Hotel List.

Enjoy your stay.

tried 4* with chelsea then 3.5 * and went up to 200 on both of those, dropped to 3 * and got the result at $185 over 100 cheaper than the direct rate with the hotel, could have waited i guess till next week but for sure will be using priceline in combination with this site again, i used the link in your post so u should get the referal
