Stumbled onto this site Googling "priceline optimal advance". Found your advice quite useful, and so clicked into Priceline thru this site's link. I bid this evening (10/6) for 10/26-28, so 20 days advance. I tried:

$150 / TS / 4* -- rejected

$160 / TS+MTW / 4* -- rejected

$170 / TS+MTW+MTE / 4* -- rejected

$190 / TS+MTW+MTE+Chelsea / 4* -- accepted at Warwick

2 nites @ $190 = $380 + $81.56 taxes = $461.56

Thanks for the cool tip about getting a "free" rebid by adding Chelsea (which has no hotels above 3*).

Looking at transparent hotel booking sites (e.g., Hotels.com, Expedia), the Warwick is being offered at minimum $295/night for those same dates.
