Pennylee Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Hi,I would need help building a bidding strategy for a hotel room in Montreal. Non-negotiable criterias are : 4*, Montreal Downtown and my dates are Oct. 15-18, not flexible. I wouldn't want to bid more that 80$/night. I've tried a first bid at 65$ but have been rejected today Oct. 3. I made such a low bid because I've already got a hotel room in a 4* in Montreal through Priceline for this price last June. Since I thought October was less busy, I figured I could get something in this price range, but I have been unsuccessful. Now, given my unflexible criterias, is there a bidding strategy I could use or should I just wait 24 hours and increase my bid?Thank you,Pennylee
thereuare Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! At the 4* level in Montrela you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Montreal...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Pennylee Posted October 7, 2009 Author Report Posted October 7, 2009 Thank you for this. Just as an update, I've been trying this bidding strategy for the third time now and so far, no success from 65$ to 80$...I will keep on trying and let people here know!By the way, I used your PRICELINE LINK.Thank you,Pennylee
Pennylee Posted October 8, 2009 Author Report Posted October 8, 2009 Another update.. as of Oct. 8. I bid up to 95$ with no success... :) Those Mtl hotels are Expensive!!!Pennylee
thereuare Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 What is your current maximum bid for this stay?At what point do you consider lowering to 3.5*?Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Pennylee Posted October 8, 2009 Author Report Posted October 8, 2009 My max would be 100$ per night and it is almost impossible that I choose a 3.5* because the 4* are all downtown close to the conference center I go to, but the 3,5* are more spread out. And I don't like the Hyatt Regency, which is a 3.5*, so I don't want to risk getting this hotel.I will try until the very last minute I guess... I regularly check hotwire too, just in case!
