I'm searching for a hotel in the Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville on Hotwire. I'm searching for the dates 10/23/09-10/26/09. Hotwire's price is $134 a night.

I would like to ideally get the Hyatt Regency because it's close to my friend's condo. Really, anything in the area will be ok, but the Hyatt Regency is the closest. Does anyone have recent success with this property near these dates with this price point? Here are the amenities for the property from Hotwire.

Amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access

I have used this site in the past for hotwire/priceline reservations and I love it!I use the site's HOTWIRE link to make sure that bb gets the credit they deserve. :)

The property above shows a Tripadvisor rating of 4.0/5.0 whereas the Hyatt currently has a rarting of 3.5, so i'm guessing that this is not likely the Hyatt.

Given the diminished likelihood of this being the Hyatt, do you still want to go with HOTWIRE or do you want to try for a better price via PRICELINE?

The 4* w/the 4/5 tripadvisor rating in the Mag Mile is likely the Hard Rock, which is right around the corner from the Hyatt. There's also a 3.5* in the same zone with Suite/Breakfast/Fitness/Pool/Restaurant/Business/'Net for $108. That would likely be the Embassy Suites Lakefront, which is not that terribly far from the Hyatt, and while not only cheaper, would also offer breakfast and a larger space.

I would really jump on the Embassy Suites deal. The free breakfast would really be a great deal, but I want to stay south of chicago river near either Swissotel or Hyatt. I guess Hard Rock wouldn't be that much further. It looks like the "Spa" amenity is a big indicator of the Swissotel. If I wait a few days, do they post different hotels with different prices and amenities? Thanks!

HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level in each zone... it's the least expensive hotel that is offered.

So for new offering to be presented, the current hotel offered would need to sell out of, pull, or increase the rate of the inventory currently offered to HOTWIRE OR another hotel offer inventory at a lower price than the currently offered hotel.

The Hard Rock is probably the "next closest" possibility to the Hyatt aside from the Swiss. It's really only a block or two. In terms of the Embassy, that's one block North of the River on Columbus, and one can walk across the river on Columbus, then up the stairs on the other side of the bridge and be right at the Hyatt/Swiss.

I see...so it looks like the hard rock is what I'll probably get. You guys are awesome. This really helps to take the stress away from using opaque sites. There's a risk of the price going up, if I wait to see what the next offer is after hotwire sells out of their inventory.

Any idea what the 4.5* in mag mile would most likely be? For the dates 10/23/09-10/26/09, Hotwire's price is $149 a night. The Amenities are: Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access

Looks like the 4* in mag mile went up and currently costs more than the 4.5*. I will probably just go for the 4.5* tonight and hope for the intercontinental. Thanks for all your help. This forum is AWESOME. Of course...I'll be using the HOTWIRE link from this thread to make my rez

Going to bump this back up. Still searching for the same hotel, same date via Hotwire. Right now a 4* Chicago (Magnificent Mile-Streeterville) has dropped from my first post:

4* Chicago (Magnificent Mile-Streeterville) 10/23-10/26 with amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access

Price is $108/night.

Any ideas? Of course...I'll be using the HOTWIRE link from this thread to make my rez

All of the hotels previously mentioned look alike based upon the star rating and amenities... unless HOTWIRE provides any addition information (such as user reviews, TA info, etc) there won't be any way to narrow the field of likely candidates.
