marceloS Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Hello everyone! Thank you for making this website so fun and at the same time challenging. WOW!!!Never thought bidding would be this fun. Anyhow just thought id let everyone know how my bidding has been. Ive been utlizing the links on the mods signatures and have zero luck from pL for south beach 3.5* for oct 7 8 9 10 11, tried collins zone and miami beach zone, im up to 95 bucks and im not sure its worth risking other zones as they are far from where we'd like to stay. I have another bid option tomm morning, but interestingly enough ive placed 3 bids in 24hours, STRANGE. My REAL question is would anyone know what the identity may be of the HOWIRE hotel listed for the above dates. It is listed as Central South Beach and doesnt show any amenitie icons, its listed as a 4* and has 3.0 out of 5 from TRIP ADVISOR. It also shows no one under 21 years of age . Wow this is amazing ive solved some serious mysterious crimes in my time, but I think horacio cane from csi is needed on this identification.Ive searched trip advisor for 4* and 3.0 rating within the mileage rating but no Cigar. Any ideas as to which hotel this may be. Sorry about being long-winded, this trip is last minute as the original location we were going to stay at in ft lauderdale which was beach front is no longer availablve at a rate of FREE, the owner backed out long story but guy was a flake and encouraged us to visit his summer home for free. Gosh upsets me.Any help would be greatly appreciated. And thank you mods and admins for the site its great will definetly post my outcome.
thereuare Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! The 4* above has not yet been reported to the board, and with no amenities, there is not much to go on in order to try to identify it. However, on my current search it's priced at $145/nite, but it appears that you have only been bidding up to $95 thus far on PRICELINE... is $145/nite within your budget? If so, why not continue to bid higher on PRICELINE? When bidding on PRICELINE at the 3.5* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. Are you familiar with re-bidding (Priceline Re-Bidding Explained) and using these zones in your bidding? What is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. marceloS Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 Thank you for your resply. After some more research, I believe the mileage to local airports is not accurate and actually generic. It shows the same exact mileage for alot of hotels, making me believe it is inaccurate. My wife also reminded me, my highest bid for pl was actually $110.00 not 90. I will try 115 and call it quits, as Ive located the standard at 140 and mondrian at 159 with breakfast. Either way I will post my final result.I will say we got a standard suv $38.00 a day , Alamo the company we won the car from had same exact car at over 55 bucks. So imo we got a standard suv from pl at the price of a regular standard full size veh.
AaronJB Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 I believe the distances are from the center of the zone, not from each specific hotel.
marceloS Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 Thanks for the info on the distances noted, I figured that much wouldnt that be nice if all I had to do was figure out distances :)
marceloS Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 Well I was going to make my last 2 attempts on PL, but it appears their site maybe down. Anybody know anything?
thereuare Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 I used this PRICELINE link as well as the logo on the top right corner of the board and both loaded up just fine. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
marceloS Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 Well thank you all for your help. My bids reached $114, 3 zones central miami beach, miami beach, and collins. 3.5* and up. NO LUCK, going to book 4* Mondrian for $150.00 with cont breakfast.Thank you all and good luck bidding.

marceloS Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 NOT SO FAST,Im not a quiter, PRICELINE offered me another chance for bid so I upped my bid to $141.00 and won rennaissance eden roc. I am happy, im always happy when i win something even if its not a true win. IM happy and thats what matters, saved about 15 bucks a day from where i was going to book and im on beach now. Thank you all for your help.Has anyone ever stayed here, reviews are like usual mixed. Any tips of suggestions, were doing our 1st 4 nights here then off to the Keys, wait I have to Pl a place in the keys now. COOL, any suggestions for places on the keys?
AaronJB Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Congratulations on your success!I haven't stayed there, but this certainly looked like a gorgeous newer property during the last season of Next Food Network Star, which filmed partially there. Glad you are pleased with the results. We would be happy to help with the Keys, but it would be greatly appreciated if you could start a new thread for that portion of your trip.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
marceloS Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 I certainly will and I will continue to utlize links on site for PRICELINE and HOTWIRE.
