yankss23 Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 $150 for a quick 1 night trip up to Boston 10/3-10/4. Not too bad considering the Westin Copley Plaza website has the cheapest room at $359. This was my first time trying out priceline. I don't know if I did a good job with my bids from a strategic standpoint. I read a few of the topics in these forums and found them very helpful for a first time bidder. Any advice for me based on my bid history below? Did I do anything wrong that I should change next time? I'm sure I will do better next time. But I thought $150 for a 4* hotel in that location last minute was a steal. So I am pretty happy. Here was my bid history: First bid - $100, 4* Boston Quincy Market area - RejectedSecond bid - $125, 4*, 3.5* Boston Quincy Market area - RejectedThird bid - $150, 4*, 3.5* Boston Quincy Market area, Boston Copley Square area - Accepted.
thereuare Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you're happy with the results and this works well for your stay. You could improve upon your bid strategy in at least two aspects:1) you added a 'live' zone near the end of your bidding, it would have been better to start with a clean slate, and a lower price, for just the Copley zone. For instance, you never gave yourself a chance to win this hotel at $125, $100, or less, since your bids at those levels didn't include this zone2) it's recommended that you Lower Your Bid Priceline When You Lower Your Star Rating as this previous thread explains (you lowered your star quality and raised your bid.Feel free to ask fro help before bidding on your next opaque purchase. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
