bebeprincess2 Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 Hi! Thanks for the very useful website! Thanks to better bidding I was able to save hundreds on the Marriot in Copenhagen this summer! Thanks!! I'm trying to book a hotel for 1 night in Las Vegas from 10/17-10/18 (high rates on Saturday) and I was trying to find "Central Strip" area in priceline but I can only see 12 areas and none of them says "Central Strip"? I'm pretty flexible so I'm fine with the Westin, Luxor, Ballys, Treasure Island, MGM, anything. So did Princeline now divide Central Strip into "Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North/South"? If I am interested in staying on the strip, which areas can I click to bid? Thanks so much!
thereuare Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 Welcome (officially) to BetterBidding! Thanks for the very useful website! Thanks to better bidding I was able to save hundreds on the Marriot in Copenhagen this summer! We're glad the board was helpful with your previous purchase, but it's also somewhat disappointing that this is your first post :) Please keep in mind that one of the reasons this website is so useful is because of the information posted. Perhaps another user could have benefited from the details of your Marriott purchase, just as you had benefited from the information that others have posted before you. Please remember to share your results with the board so that the information can help other users. In regards to your upcoming Vegas stay, PRICELINE only uses a North Strip and South Strip zone... HOTWIRE uses the South, Central, and North Strip zones. You mention that your fine with the Westin, but also mention that you want to stay on the strip, so keep in mind that the Westin is actually located slightly off-strip. Is this still an acceptable outcome? Likewise the 5* Trump is located slightly off-strip but still within PRICELINE's strip zone boundaries, is this acceptable?Let us know which zone(s) you're willing to accept, your desired star rating, and maximum budget per nite before taxes and fees, and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. bebeprincess2 Posted September 25, 2009 Author Report Posted September 25, 2009 Thank you for your reply! Sorry I did not post the Marriot Copenhagen thing as I was scrambling to pack for my trip last minute! I will be sure to post any other priceline transactions in the future now that I have an account! I actually have stayed at the Westin in Vegas and I didnt think it was all that far from the strip. I suppose hotels that are more ON the strip would be better but if they give me the Westin thats totally fine too. Since i'm going on a Saturday, I guess the 5* ones would probably be way over my budget so what are the 4* or 3.5* ones for north and south strip of priceline? South is Luxor, Excalibur, Mandalay Bay? (are those all 4*?), Would Treasure Island, Monte Carlo and those be? Which Category is the Riviera? I actually stayed there once in the newly renovated room that turned out to be quite nice! Thanks so much for the help!!
AaronJB Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 What would be your budget per night? Additionally, in terms of specific hotels, there's no way to guarantee getting a specific property on PRICELINE.Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.

bebeprincess2 Posted September 26, 2009 Author Report Posted September 26, 2009 Hi! Thanks for the info. I checked out the Priceline Hotel list. So I'll be interested in either Strip North or Strip South. for a 3* I'm willing to pay up to $60-70, and 4* maybe less than $100. Obviously if I can get a 4* on a Saturday for like $70-80 I would be ecstatic! how much should I expect to pay for a 5*? Can you advice me on how to bid for it? So bid a low price for 3* and then close the browser if its not accepted and go back? Thanks so much!
thereuare Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 I'm guessing a 5* would be $150+ for this nite. What do yo want to try for first... 3*, 3.5*, 4*, 5*?? For that star rating, what is your maximum bid? Are both North and South strip acceptable or just one of them? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. bebeprincess2 Posted September 30, 2009 Author Report Posted September 30, 2009 Hi~ I've been trying $60, $65 for a 4* but I've been denied with no counter offer. I was hoping for less than $100 for a 4* (north or south is both fine). How should I bid? How come there are no counter offers?... Should I chose North first then south? Ive been trying North with no luck... Thanks!!
thereuare Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 $65 for a Saturday nite in Vegas, unless it is a very slow period, is not a realistic expecation, imo. What is your maximum bid (not all-in) price for a 4* hotel in the North or South zone? Are you familiar with re-bidding? (see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained, but you're strongly encouarged to confirm your re-bid zones with the board before utlizing them if you're new to re-bidding)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. bebeprincess2 Posted September 30, 2009 Author Report Posted September 30, 2009 My absolute Maximum is $130. Since I can book Luxor with that but that's kind of far from the center of the strip... So i guess tonight I'll try to rebid for like $80-90 and hope for a counter offer? I looked on hotwire (there's no bidding on hotwire right) and strip east is $114 + fees $132 for 4.5*. I saw someone on this board got $109/nt 10/16-18 on strip east. I thought I could bid low and get a counter offer...but i guess not?? How come it was so much easier getting the Copenhagen Marriot this summer from PRICELINE?? :) Thank you so much for your help!
AaronJB Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 Traffic varies heavily from city-to-city and day-to-day; Vegas does have more expensive periods. Counter-offers are not always offered by the service - there's no way to know whether or not to expect a counter-offer.
bebeprincess2 Posted October 1, 2009 Author Report Posted October 1, 2009 bid again tonight for $89 for Strip North got counter offered for $170 ($144 b4 taxes and fees) for a 4* or 5*. Declined the offer and went to HOTWIRE after reading a few posts.Ended up getting MGM Signature for $114 + fees = $132! biggrin.gif 4.5*. Perfect! Will post a new topic~ Thanks!!! It seems like HOTWIRE is much easier~~~
