William W Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Used PRICELINE link on this site.Started bidding for 2.5* Markham at $44. Bid reject, offered free rebid for additional $12. Add Scarborough and rebid at $46. Thinking that Delta will be $50+ based on previous winning bid, and hoping would get Markham Holiday Inn. Unfortunately won the Delta Toronto East for $46. Not keen at all with paying for $12+ tax parking and $11 for internet. :) :)Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$46.00 Subtotal: US$92.00 Taxes & Fees: US$20.28 Total Charges: US$112.28
thereuare Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Sorry to hear of the extra charge(s) for parking and internet, but at least you received a deal on the room rate. In the future if there's a hotel you're trying to target, or avoid, HOTWIRE may be a better option. It will cost you a little more than PRICELINE, but you may be able to better target what you want.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
tilepusher Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 You have to be careful about using "live" zones as pseudo-rebid zones. It's not safe to bid $46 for a zone you don't want to stay in when bids of $50 have been accepted, especially when there's no evidence that lower bids were rejected. With so little data available for Scarborough - Pickering, it would have been prudent to assume that the "strike price" for the Delta was at most $50, not at least $50.You did have a rebid zone (Toronto East). Were you planning to use this for a third bid in case the second one was rejected?
