lablover Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 I am somewhat new to PRICELINE bidding and new to this forum, and having trouble winning a car rental. So far, I have bid up to $19/day for an economy car with no success. Dates are 10/25-10/31. Going rates for the same week on Priceline are:Budget, $182/week, or $26/dayAlamo, $277/week, or $39/dayNational, $292/week, or $41/dayHertz, $378/week, or $53/dayAvis, $377/week, or $53/dayThe rate for the Budget rental isn't very much more than I have been bidding, but there seems to be a big jump to the other 4 companies. Anyone have any suggestions? Should I wait until closer to the date and try again? Thanks!
thereuare Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 I would immediately reserve the BUDGET (please use our link) deal as a back-up reservation (assuming it's fully cancellable, which is most likley is, as most rental reservations can be made without even a credit card). Then continue to bid up until the day of your stay in an attempt to beat your back-up reservation... but given the higher rate of all the other companies, i would lock in the BUDGET rate now; should rate drop, or you success with PRICELINE or HOTWIRE, you can always cancel the back-up reservation without any loss. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. lamboworld Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 Use this code J868801 at Avis. This is a Wedding Invitation Car Rental code and all you need to do is to tell the Avis Rep that you are in Maui for a wedding.
