On September 20th I bid in the Baltimore, Md Inner Harbor Downtown area for a 4 star hotel for 9/25/9-9/27/9 through Priceline. I got it for $90 a night, but was suprised when we got the new Hotel Monaco Baltimore. It was very nice and within walking distance to the inner harbor (about 3 blocks down and 3 blocks over). We did have some problems though. The first thing that went wrong was that a man came up to the window when we first arrived and told us he would have someone come and park our van right away. We got out of our van to wait for the valet. While we were waiting someone came and got our bags and we followed and did not realize that we were to get a tag to show where the car was parked. I had to go down to the front door to get this resolved later. When we checked in we had a guy waiting on our luggage to take it to our room and I felt very rushed at the check in. I forgot to ask about the number of beds. We had 2 adults and our child in our party, so we needed 2 beds. When we got to the room we called the front desk to ask to be moved and they said they could offer us a cot, but not another room, so we said we would like to have the cot. We thought that was the end of it, but when we returned from a walk there was no cot. We called the front desk again and were told that the hotel was full and that all the cots were gone, so all they could do is give us extra sheets and some pillows. Luckily, my son was able to make a bed up on the chair in the room, but we felt that this was not right.

On the bright side, they had warm chocolate cookies and milk out for the kids (& adults) at 4 in the "living room". My husband would have liked to have coffee in the room, but instead he was able to get coffee in the "living room" in the morning. Our bed was very cozy and comfortable. The rooms have hd tv's in them and a desk. The bathroom was large and had a very nice area to get ready. They had bathrobes that you could wear while you were there and if you wanted to you could buy them. My husband forgot to pack his toothbrush and my curling brush broke on the day we left, so we were able to get these for free during our stay. They had a list of things in the bathroom that were complimentary during your stay if you forgot them and others for which you pay a small charge ($2-$3). They had L'Occitane shampoo, conditioner and body lotion in the bathroom.

We called to get enough towels and they brought them up promptly. They clean with green products there, and you can use the same towel for your stay if you want to by placing it on the towel rack or if you put the dirty towels on the floor the maids will give you new ones.

There is also a wine time in the "living room", but we did not attend. We also did not eat at the hotel restaurant. We ate at Phillips' Seafood (fast food part) on the Inner Harbor near the visitor's center on Friday night. I had the cream of crab soup and it was very good and economical. On Friday night the Aquarium was discounted to $8 per person, so we went there. We ate at Panera Bread down the street for breakfast on Saturday, which had some very delicious breakfast sandwiches. We took the water taxi for $9 per person (all day) to Fort McHenry. When we got to Fort McHenry the admission charge was waived for something like national parks day, so we toured during the day. We then took the taxi back and at one of the transfers between boats we stopped at a restaurant called Kooper's to eat. My food was great, but my husband had issues with his food which they never did get right and the service was lacking. Our food was left sit to long before the waitress brought it to our table. My food was warm enough, but my husband had to send his back and then when he got his plate the chicken nachos had no chicken.

We left early on Sunday morning to return home and stopped to eat at Cracker Barrel on the way home, which was great!
