:)

I am attending a conference 9/30 - 10/2 in Chicago and staying at the Westin Chicago River North. Room rates run $200 a night. I decided to extend the trip on my own nickle for two more nights (but not at $200/night). So I used the PRICELINE links from this site and won at $80.00/night, and BONUS it was at the Westin Chicago River North, so I don't have to change hotels. When I check in, I'll ask if I can just keep the same room to save the hassle. I was bidding only in that zone and rebid zones, so I had hoped that would happen, but didn't really expect the good luck.

Here was my strategy.

Bidding 4* only

Zone A - Chicago North Michigan River North

rebid zones:

Zone B - Hyde Park

Zone C - Lincoln Park

Zone D - Midway Airport

Zone E - Ohare Airport South

Zone F - Skokie

Bidding as follows:

A - $70 rejected

AB - $72 rejected

closed browser

AC - $74 rejected

closed browser

AD - $76 rejected

closed browser

AE - $78 rejected

closed browser

AF - $80 ACCEPTED

I was prepared to go:ABF, ABC, ABD, ABE, ACD, ACE, ACF, ... another 24 rebids in $1 increments and/or to switch to the nearby Millinium Park zone and start over.

Near as I can tell this is the best reported price on this forum in the last month or two in this zone for 4* Might have got $5-10 cheaper in other nearby zones.

Very happy with this pull.

Congratulations on your success!

This is an outstanding rate for what I consider one of the nicest 4*'s in the zone. Additionally, while PRICELINE or HOTWIRE reservations are not eligible for upgrades, I'd politely ask if there was any way that a room on the South face of the building is available - those rooms face the river and offer stellar views. If not, oh well, but it's worth at least a try. Remarkable that you were also able to get the conference hotel! :)

Thank you for sharing your results with the board and using the site's PRICELINE link.

Enjoy your stay.

When you check-in let the front desk clerk know that you have a seprate, but continuous, reservation for two nites following your current reservation, and ask if they will 'block the room for you'. You will still likely need to go to the front desk on 'switch' day to offically check-out and then check-in again, but there shoudlnt' be any issue keeping the same room and not having to move.

Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.

Enjoy our stay... both the business and pleaseure side of it!
