Morabeza Posted September 30, 2009 Author Report Posted September 30, 2009 I was hoping to stay under $100 including tax, etc. I can see other people got the Trump around that time for around that amount, but then this is a Saturday, and id love to be more in the Venetian/Cesars/TI area. I'm really looking for "value + experience" so if that means 4 star (Mirage/MGM) can be had for ~$60, thats great! Again, im open to ideas and opinions!
thereuare Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 I dont think a 5* for $100, or a 4* for $60 'all-in', is realistic for a hotel on the strip for this Saturday nite.Is the Westin, which is located slightly off-strip, something you consider 'on strip' for this stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Morabeza Posted September 30, 2009 Author Report Posted September 30, 2009 I think i am going to try a priceline bid. I think id start with South Strip area, and then add north strip on a re-bid if needed. I am also thinking of starting with a 4* bid.I used priceline in a rush a month or so ago (before i found this forum) when i needed a room in Charleston, SC for the same night. It was the first time i had paid attention to the reccomended re-bid amount. I guess in past attempts ive either gotten a room on first bid, or walked away when it didnt work. I've used the re-bid for plane tickets before, but not hotels. Can you point me to info on/reccomend strategy based on the zones in re-bidding? Ive seen it mentioned in other posts that they are different. Also how is that re-bid reccomendation produced?

I am also thinking of starting with a 4* bid.Adding North will let you bid again without waiting the 24 hour lock-out period, but is not what we refer to as a 're-bid zones'.Have you read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and understand the concept? When bidding 4* what is your maximum bid? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Morabeza Posted September 30, 2009 Author Report Posted September 30, 2009 Yes I read that through, and I am really comfortable with the concept (done it before with planes, and hotel once). My question is isolated to the result in hotel re-bidding when it says "for $13 more, we can accept your offer". Where does that come from and how is it determined? Is there any leeway if i come back with $12? From reading other's posts it seems like the answer is no?For a 4* or above I was thinking of starting at $75-80? It seems that The Signature and Westin have $159 rates posted on other search engines, so thats about half? Luxor had a $144.
thereuare Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 If you receive a counter-offer ("if you're willing to increase your bid by $xx...") you can try to undercut it by using a re-bid zone (if available)... if you don't have any re-bid zones available or can't add any other zones, then you must bid the full amount they suggest to be allowed to bid again without waiting out the 24 hours. However, counter-offers are random and no assurance you'll receive one during the bidding process. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
