jp714 Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 Hi, I am so glad that I found this site! I would appreciate help bidding on a hotel for Nov 15-18. Since I have some time to bid, I would like to try for a 4* first. If I am not successful a 3.5* would be fine. Ideal zones would be TS or CPS as a first choice, MTE and MTW as a second choice. My max budget at this point would be $140-$150. In your opinion, is this a remote possibility?
thereuare Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! What is more important, price or location? Did you want to try for a hotel in the TS or CPS zones first, up to your limit, and then if rejected try for a hotel in the MTE or MTW zones... OR is the most imporant factor price and you are actual goal is the least expensive 4* or better in any of the four zones listed?I never say that anything is 'impossible', but i'd guess your budget for a 4* will fall a little short... you may have a better chance at a 3.5*.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know regarding the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. jp714 Posted September 19, 2009 Author Report Posted September 19, 2009 Ultimately, any of those locations would be fine, but I would like to try for a 4* first. Can we try CPS,TS,and MTE to start. I would like to get something under $150, but will either raise my bid or lower to a 3.5* if I come up short. Thank you so much for your help!
jp714 Posted September 21, 2009 Author Report Posted September 21, 2009 I tried bidding yesterday up to $140 in my zones only. I would like to try again tonight. Could you please help me with a strategy up to $150 for CPS,TS,MTE,MTW. Thank You!

jp714 Posted September 28, 2009 Author Report Posted September 28, 2009 I decided to change my dates, mainly because the airfare was much cheaper. The new date is Nov 1-4. I know it is the marathon so rates are quite high. I have bid up to 200 for 3.5 with no luck. I have found a hotel on Hotwire, would this be the Park Central?Nov 1-43 star Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, High Speed, Businessprice $ 179
AaronJB Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 What zone is the HOTWIRE listing in?
AaronJB Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 This would likely be the Holiday Inn Midtown. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.
jp714 Posted September 29, 2009 Author Report Posted September 29, 2009 Thanks for all your help. Dropped down to a 3.5* started at $140 TS added rebid zone, bid $150, rejected. Bid $160 and it was accepted. I think this is a pretty good deal since it is the marathon. Priceline gave the the option to extend my stay at that price, but I already booked the air. Thanks again, and I will continue to use your PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links in the future.
jp714 Posted September 29, 2009 Author Report Posted September 29, 2009 sorry, posted a new topic for my win. As a follow up to this topic, I got the Marriott Marquis. 3.5* for $160.
AaronJB Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Definitely a fantastic rate for this Marriott property, especially given how pricey NYC is during this Fall.Thank you for sharing your results with the board and using the site's PRICELINE link to start your purchase.Enjoy your stay.
