kelley3249 Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Dates: Oct: 22nd - 25th (3 nights)Amenities: fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry facilities$134 nightTwo adults and two children looking for hotel in Dupont Circle or downtown area. Thanks
kelley3249 Posted September 29, 2009 Author Report Posted September 29, 2009 Another question - we have traveling with two kids (6+2). It seems to make a difference on price at certain hotels if you select two kids. Why is that since we only want one room. For example, for the dates listed above it appears the price for the same four star in Dupont circle goes from $153 to $226 per night when I enter in two kids. ??? I would take the room at $153 since it is non-smoking and 4 stars but not at the $226 price. Can I book with just two adults and just show up with the two kids?
thereuare Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Another question... the price for the same four star in Dupont circle goes from $153 to $226 per night when I enter in two kids. ???Welcome to BetterBidding! It's not the same hotel...If you notice the search for 2adults/0children shows a Smoke Free icon (and no Pool, iirc) and a Tripadvisor rating of 4.0/5.0... whereas the 4* showing when searching for 2adults/2children does not show Smoke Free, does show a pool icon, and has a 4.5/5.0 Tripadvisor rating. If you book for only double occupancy there is a chance that you'll be assigned a room with only one bed and the hotel may be unabel, or unwilling, to switch your room to one with 2 beds (and if they are able/willing there may be an additional charge)So it's a risk that you'll have to decide if you're willing to accept. In some areas, such as NYC it's strongly not recommended to book for double occupancy when you'll be more than that (given how notoriously small NYC hotel rooms are and that there is a high percentage of rooms that only have one bed with little/no space for a rollaway)... where in Orlando where the risk is much less as they're used to accomodation families and many rooms have two beds and/or or large enough to accomodate a rollaway. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. kelley3249 Posted September 29, 2009 Author Report Posted September 29, 2009 Thanks for the help. I think we better book using 2 adults / 2 children. I don't want a huge hassle at check-in and risk being stuck in a one bedroom closet. I guess that brings me back to my original question of trying to figure out what hotel this is:Dates: Oct: 22nd - 25th (3 nights)Amenities: fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry facilities$134 nightOr, maybe you have a better suggestion close to the area. Thanks
thereuare Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 A property with this exact amenity combination has not yet been reported to the board. The Holiday Inn has previously been reported with this amenity combination but also included a Golf icon... it's possible that this property has dropped the Golf icon (or is just not showing it for this particular search) and that would be my best guess, although i'm not too confident in this guess based upon the lack of any supporting evidence that this is the case. What is your maximum budget for this stay? kelley3249 Posted September 29, 2009 Author Report Posted September 29, 2009 Splitting the bid is not an option. It would be too hard to pack up and move the kids after one night. We were hoping to get a 3* for around $100 but are OK with a 4* for around $150.
AaronJB Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 While it would be more than you wanted to spend, the Hampton Inn DC is $166.32 on Orbitz and the FABSAVE10 coupon takes 10% off = $149 and change. The Hampton gets better reviews and for $15 more than the HOTWIRE listing, everyone would get breakfast. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing any 4*'s for $150 or less on HOTWIRE/Orbitz, and PRICELINE would not guarantee 2 beds. Please use the site's Orbitz.com link if this is of interest.
