Lepidoptera Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Omni Boston Parker House60 School StreetBoston, MA 02108Accepted Offer Price: $185.00 (USD)Number of Nights: 2Room Subtotal: $370.00 (USD)Taxes and Fees: $61.36 (USD)Total Room Cost: $431.36 (USD)I researched bidding strategies here and used the PRICELINE link from this site. I used the closing browser strategy explained by Smiling Boy here. After unsuccessfully bidding up to $160/night yesterday trying to get 3.5* in Copley Park (aiming for Sheraton) or Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall, I came back on today and tried again. I decided that I would bid up to $200/night before caving and booking the Fairmont Copley Plaza for my corporate rate of $302/night.For the purposes of explaining my strategy, these are the zones:A=Copley Park (Preferred)B=Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall (Preferred)C=Free rebid zone (no 3.5* or up properties)D=free rebid zone E=free rebid zone Select 3.5* select zone A $165 rejectedadd zone B, bid $170, rejectedadd zone C, bid $175, rejectedclose browserselect zones ABD, bid $180, rejectedclose browserselect zones ABE, bid $185, accepted, upgraded to 4* in zone BThanks for the great information here. Not an inexpensive weekend to visit Boston, but delighted to be paying nearly half of the lowest web rate ($329) for what sounds like a lovely, historic and well-located hotel.
AaronJB Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Congratulations on your success and welcome to the site. :)Definitely a very good deal for this historic hotel (I believe it's one of the oldest properties in the nation) on a busy set of dates.Thank you for sharing your results with the board and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
