I researched bidding strategies here and used the PRICELINE link from this site. I used the closing browser strategy explained by Smiling Boy here.

After unsuccessfully bidding up to $160/night yesterday trying to get 3.5* in Copley Park (aiming for Sheraton) or Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall, I came back on today and tried again. I decided that I would bid up to $200/night before caving and booking the Fairmont Copley Plaza for my corporate rate of $302/night.

For the purposes of explaining my strategy, these are the zones:

A=Copley Park (Preferred)

B=Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall (Preferred)

C=Free rebid zone (no 3.5* or up properties)

D=free rebid zone

E=free rebid zone

Thanks for the great information here. Not an inexpensive weekend to visit Boston, but delighted to be paying nearly half of the lowest web rate ($329) for what sounds like a lovely, historic and well-located hotel.
