kwoodell Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 I have used your PRICELINE link a number of times to get great deals on hotels, so thanks for the info on these forums! We stayed in NYC last October at the Millennium Broadway Hotel and would really like to stay there again. So I'm only bidding on 3.5* in Times Square (with free rebids in Chelsea, Long Island, Upper East Side). I started at $175 and went up to $200 with no luck tonight. I noticed on the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins that others were successful in this price range for Oct. 9-10, so is it realistic to think that rooms at the same price would be available for Oct. 23-25? Or is there something going on in the city which would make hotel rates higher that weekend?Last year we had to bid up to $280 before finally getting a room at the Millennium Broadway, but I was hoping to get it cheaper this year... Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!!
thereuare Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 Rates have generally been high thus far for the Fall season... and this weekend your seeking is no exeption, although i doubt it will take the $280 you paid previously. However, i would caution against you trying to bid specifically for the Millenium Broaday. While you may ultimately receive this property if you continue your pursuit, there are a handful of other 3.5* rated properties in this zone, and you could just as easily win one of those. It woudln't be good to continue bidding this zone higher and higher in hopes of landing this particular hotel, receive something different, whereas you could have received a suitable hotel in a nearby zone for less. You can certainly continue to try, but i think you're taking a risk at spending too much and not getting the hotel you're trying to target. What is your maximum bid for this stay? Based upon the above, do you want to cotinue your current path of only bidding the TS zone at the 3.5* level? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. kwoodell Posted September 24, 2009 Author Report Posted September 24, 2009 Yes, I only want to continue bidding TS for our stay. Our daughter is attending a seminar at the Hudson Theater so we'd like to be within walking distance for her (and why ideally we'd like to stay at the Millennium Broadway again). I know we may get another 3.5* property. We just don't want to go below 3.5*.

kwoodell Posted September 25, 2009 Author Report Posted September 25, 2009 We'd like to stay until $250/night if possible.
thereuare Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 If i understand your post correctly you recently bid up $200 for a 3.5* property and were rejected. If this is correct i would try again as follows....At the 3.5* level you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 3.5* Times Square...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $205, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Times Square and re-bid zone2...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $215, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Times Square and re-bid zone3...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $225, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Times Square and re-bid zone2 and re-bid zone3...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $235Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. kwoodell Posted September 27, 2009 Author Report Posted September 27, 2009 Used the PRICELINE link on this forum and got the Sheraton Manhattan Hotel at Times Square for $220/night after several attempts over a couple of days (starting at $150 and bidding up to $200). After the $200 bid I got a message saying I could rebid $25 higher. Instead I changed the zone (per your rebidding techniques) and tried $210 (unsuccessful) and then $220 which was accepted. We were really hoping for the Millennium Broadway since we've stayed there before, but I knew it was a risk on Priceline. I'm a little nervous about the Sheraton Manhattan due to the mixed reviews I've read. Do you know if they are still doing renovations there?
AaronJB Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Congratulations on your success! While the reviews are mixed, a few posters who won the hotel who did provide a review said it was satisfactory. Not sure on the exact details of the renovation, but it was discussed in detail in this Priceline Sheraton Manhattan win.Thank you for sharing your results with the board and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.Enjoy your stay.
