After much time on priceline, I bid yesterday Dupont Circle and Whitehouse/Downtown for 3* and above for $165. Rejected. I added Convention Center and Georgetown as my dates are not flexible. Still rejected. Should I chop up my dates into two 2-day bids? Is the 24 hour period to the minute? Any advice would be appreciated as I am a beginner to this....

If you're willing to change hotels over the course of your stay i would SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID. The first two nites of your stay are much cheaper than the last two nites.

If you bid on the first two nites i would lower your bid and/or increase your star quality.

The last two nites of your stay will be much more expensive than the first two, but do note that HOTWIRE has a 3* hotel in the Georgetown zone for $149/nite with Boutique, Fitness, Restaurant, Business, Internet and a very good 4.0/5.0 Tripadvisor user review rating. A property at this star level and amenity combination has not yet been reported to the board, but these amenities do match previous reports for the 2.5* Savoy Suites, so i'm speculating this property may have been upgraded to the 3* level. This HOTWIRE offering is available for $125/nite for your complete 4 nite stay if you'd rather not change hotels, but i do think you can do better for the first two nites if you're willing to split.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

Success in splitting the days up. I first bid Dupont Circle and Whitehouse/downtown 4* and above. I got the Renaissance Mayflower (4*) right on Connecticut Avenue for October 3 and 4 for $95.00 per night.

I then expanded my search to include Georgetown and Foggy Bottom and the Convention center for October 5 and 6 - lowered my star rating request to 3-1/2*, plus increased my price to $225. Won the Melrose Hotel in the Georgetown/Foggy Bottom area. Thanks for your advice.

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you successful by splitting the bid and saved some money on this stay by doing so.

The board uses a 'one win per thread' format so that all the information can appear in the topic title as well as each win having its own thread in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins. We've edited the topic title of this thread to reflect your first purchase of the Renaissance, can you please start a NEW TOPIC for your Melrose purchase.
