We are coming to New York October 21-25 with two kids (8 and 1). We want to be in CPS, MTW or TS at 4* level. Should we not do bidding since we have kids in tow? Oh, I will be travelling with my mother, not my husband, so we really do need two beds. Mom will be arriving later in the day though, so not issue sneaking her in, at check in, it will be just me and the kids. :)

Welcome to the site.

Bidding on PRICELINE in NYC w/4 has a high risk of only getting 1 bed, given how small the rooms in NYC often are. I would instead recommend HOTWIRE.

Please let us know your budget if you would like assistance in terms of researching possible hotels. :)

Just to clarify... PRICELINE only guarnatees double occupancy, HOTWIRE allows you to search for up to quad occupancy and guarantees sleeping accomodations for everyone you include on the search.

So its not just a matter of using HOTWIRE, but searching for at least triple occupancy (HOTWIRE defines 'child' as 2-17 years, so wouldn't need to include the baby on a search, but if you found something for 2adults/1child, i would also see if the same offer and price is offered for 2adults/2children, as it may just be a little safer making sure you have enough space for everyone)

I'd start by searching HOTWIRE (for 2adults/1childre or 2adults/2children) and see if anything is offered within your desired budget, star rating, and zone... we'll take it from there.

Going to NYC with daughter and two grandkids, all in one room. Just found your site - hope I am doing everything right. :) Using hotwire so we can guarantee we have enough room for the four of us. Trip is October 21-25. Mid town central rate of $265. It's coming up non smoking, fitness center, business center, high speed internet and restaurant. Any guesses?

Thanks!

I've merged your threads... you can keep all posts for this stay in this same thread.

The above is a match for the Sheraton New York so that would be my best guess.

Thank you for merging the threads. My daughter posted the first one, I found the hotwire hotel, so I posted about which hotel it was. Anyway, does this seem to be a good deal for this hotel? It has really mixed reviews on tripadvisor. This is much more than we would normally pay for a hotel, but it is New York!

There are some slightly cheaper options for these dates, but they would be at a lower star rating or in a less convenient area. If you wouldn't mind that, I'd be happy to offer some other ideas.

Well, for example, there is a 3* on HOTWIRE in the Empire State Building area with the amenities: fitness, laundry and kitchenette for $219. That would be a likely match for the Murray Hill Suites. More basic, but gets good reviews. Not as "in the middle of everything" location as the Sheraton, but nice area.

Additionally, the Eastgate Tower (which I believe is right by the Murray Hill Suites property) is $238 on Expedia on-sale, and the coupon code 10SEP takes another $10 off. The hotel has a Junior Suite w/1 queen and 1 sofa queen for $238, plus kitchenette. There's also a 25% off promotion at some area restaurants on Expedia when you book a hotel.

I believe both hotels are former apartment buildings, and both get mostly good reviews. Again, there are some downsides in terms of neither property being as "upscale" or as centrally located, but they are cheaper, in a nice area and do offer more space and a kitchenette.

HOTWIRE also has a 3* in the Chelsea-MSG area w/ Restaurant, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business for $235. This would be a likely match for the Wingate, which gets also gets good *overall* reviews. If this is the Wingate, the lowest regular rate is $313, plus you would all get free breakfast, so that's a nice bonus in NYC. So, maybe not as upscale and maybe not quite as well located, but cheaper, pretty good reviews and breakfast.
