Priceline Hotel: 3* Newark (Jersey City) Hyatt Regency

Hi-

I bid $37 on a 3* Jersey City hoping to get 2 nights at the Hyatt 12/22 through 24. I was declined. Also declined at $38 for just the night of 12/22.

I'm new to Priceline and this great site. Any ideas?

Is this a trip you will definately be taking even if unsuccessful with Priceline? I'm not suggesting bidding your maximum at this time, but so that i can advise the best course of action, what is your maximum bid.

PS- i edited your title to reflect that you're bidding for a 3* in the Jersey City zone and not the specific hotel you previously mentioned

My max is probably about $50/nite. I won't be making the trip if I can't get something at that price or lower. I might be willing to take just one night at $50 or lower though. I was surprised to get rejected on the 22nd to the 24th since the hyatt.com rate was so low at $159. The hyatt.com rate was $219 for the 26th to 28th.

This hotel seems to have little rhyme or reason with some of their rates... we have seen rejections with the hotel's rates in the $100's and acceptances when the rate was in the $200's. :)

You may want to consider trying this:

Bid one nite at $37, if rejected

Bid the other nite at $37, if rejected

Bid both nites at $55 (i would also raise you maximum bid to $55 instead of $50)... we have seen acceptances at $55 which were rejected at lower levels.

They're back!!!! I just got accepted for two nites at the Hyatt on the Hudson at $37 nite. Dates are 12/22 and 12/23. I bid 3* Jersey City $37 each night separately and got em both. Thanks for the help.
