Jeremy B Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 This was a tough one. I typically get the Hyatt Regency at the Arcade from Priceline at $45-$50. I usually book months in advance, but couldn't this time.I started on Priceline 3.5*, Cleveland (Downtown), $45. Then subsequent days went $50, $56, $61, $66, $71. I decreased to 3.0* on same day and went $50. The next day did 3.5* at $76, then 3.0* at $55.The following day I went 3.0* at $62 and was offered $79.Hotwire was offering 3.5* at $87 and 3.0* at $82.Based on posts, I was worried priceline at $79 would be the Intercontinental and I really wanted to be downtown. I was fairly certain the 3.0* Hotwire would be Crowne Plaza or Doubletree, based on the amenities. So, I opted to use Hotwire.I got the Crowne Plaza Lakeside for $82. Based on the reviews and pictures, I was hoping for the Doubletree. But, I am a little closer to the warehouse district with the Crowne Plaza. So, that's a plus. A good deal given that the lowest price otherwise was $151 for Crowne Plaza and $127 for the Doubletree. So, a savings of $90 or about 35% for what I would have spent for the Doubletree and $138 or 46% over the going Crowne Plaza rate.Total w/ tax is $203.01 for 2 nights.
