Priceline Hotel: St. Petersburg Question

This is my first post here, so please be gentle.

Regarding the Tradewinds, there are three 4* hotels in the St. Pete Beach zone on Priceline, two being resorts off the beach. How can I be sure I'm bidding on the Tradewinds and don't get stuck with one of the resorts?

I'm sure there are enormous amounts of resources on this site that I can read, but I'm just learning.

Thanks

Welcome to the site. :)

The site's list of reported 4* PRICELINE wins in this zone has two listed - the Don Caesar and the Tradewinds. PRICELINE is a discount service, and the trade-off for those discounts is that one has to be flexible. If you bid for a 4* in a certain area, you have to be willing to accept any of the possible 4*'s in that area. There's no way to bid on a specific hotel.

If you would like assistance with a trip, please provide dates of travel and budget.

Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases when you are ready to book.

It appears you're using the "retail" version of PRICELINE (where the names of hotels are shown) to determine what you will get when bidding, but you can't do this as each uses a different universe of hotels. See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ for more info on this subject.

If there are hotels in the zone you're trying to avoid, or a certain characteristic you're seeking for this stay (such as Beachfront), then HOTWIRE may be a better option since their service will let you know (based upon the presence of a Beachfront icon) if the hotel is Beachfront or not.

Otherwise, with PRICELINE, there is no way to assure a Beachfront property.

Here is my 2 cents yager, I bid last feb on st petes beach 4* through HOTWIRE and won it for 99 a night. The hotel I found to be closer to a 3*, very much like a holiday inn. Knowing what I know now I think if I had used PRICELINE it I would have gotten it for less. I would reccomend the don Cesar over the TW, and I dont believe the vinoy is beachfront. Good luck and dont be afraid to through it out there, whatever you get is going to be a very good deal and that will make you happy.
