jm_usc Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 I had already made a booking at the Hilton Long Beach (posted in another thread) for Fri 9/25 and wanted to extend the reservation to check in one day earlier. When I tried to extend the reservation as Priceline supposedly allows you to, they rejected my request to extend an extra night at the same rate of $54.Yesterday I tried making a separate reservation for Thurs 9/24, but my bid of $54 was rejected for a Long Beach 3.5* hotel. I re-bid at $57 by adding the Long Beach Airport zone (no 3.5*s there) and was rejected again. So I waited 24 hours and re-bid today for $57 in Long Beach for a 3.5* and was accepted! Very relieved as my stay is in 2 days and Priceline tried to tell me that the median price of hotels in the area was $184. Lowest price for a 3.5* on Hotwire was around $85.Of note, the "median price" in my requested area of Long Beach varied from a low of $129 to a high of $184 within the past day. I almost didn't try bidding when it showed the $186 as I thought the higher price would lower my chances of acceptance. And of course, used the PRICELINE link!
