Ruzty1 Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Hi, I have some questions I hope get answered by those who have been to Vegas before. My 21st birthday is coming up and I'm planning to be in Vegas from 10/02-10/4 (2 night stay).I have been doing my research but it's not as easy as I thought, especially for a first-timer.First, I wanted to ask what hotels would be best to stay if I want the "Vegas Experience" and what hotels would allow, if any, to bring back extra guests (i.e., people I meet and bring back to my room). I read on a review that some hotels require a card or some form of ID to enter back in after a certain time. I'm assuming that the hotels on the strip are not that strict.Second, do the hotels on the strip require all guests to be 21 and over? Some people in my group will be under 21 but 18+. The plan is to bring 4 guests. I am trying check-in 5 guests total but I realize that the maximum occupancy on some rooms is 4 (if I want to keep the rates low as well). I've been reading around this forum and seems that I should go with Hotwire if I want to bring 5 guests. I am trying to spend no more than $150 per night and would prefer a 3 star hotel at minimum. Also, if you would suggest some "hip" clubs (i.e., top 40/hip-hop music) for the nightlife, I will appreciate it.Sorry if I'm asking too much.
thereuare Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!HOTWIRE allows you to book up to quad occupancy, anything over that would be at your own risk.Searching HOTWIRE for 4* there is a 4* Central Strip property for $166/nite with: Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, Business Center, Golf, Spa which is a match for the Treasure Island and that would be my best guess for this one, i think this would be a good hotel for your group, yet slightly over your budget. There is also a 3.5* for $139/nite with: Resort, Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa. This matches previous reports for both the Luxor (a bit far south for my liking but is near Mandalay Bay which has some good clubs (i'm told)) and the Monte Carlo so either of these would be my best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. damngina Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 The only person who needs to be 21 is the person checking in, they don't care who stays in your room with you. The thing to be wary of is noise. To avoid this, stay into places that cater to younger people. The other thing is all the clubs are going to check ID, so that might cause problems. The best places for young people to party in Vegas are off the strip: Hard Rock & Palms are both hotels that cater to people in their 20s. Cabs are everywhere in Vegas, so getting around to the Strip won't be an issue and during the day, the Palms has a shuttle. On the strip, I would check out MGM, New York New York, Treasure Island, and the Venetian. The very last one is pricey but all the rooms are suites and you can easily split it up between a lot of people. The Venetian also has Tao nightclub which you might be interested in. Luxor has the Cathouse club which I like and also LAX, which is fairly new. Ceasar's Palace is also a little older, but they have the club PURE and lots of interesting people. I would avoid downtown, or hotels like excalibur and circus circus. Good luck and have fun! :)
MurtleCake Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 I've never had an occupancy issue. I just go check in with maybe one person, and everyone else is somewhere else. There is usually a million people inline anyways and they wouldn't be standing with you. Also I guess out of courtesy we tried to put stuff away in the suitcases/closets so it wasn't apparent we had 5 people staying there LOL. But nobody questioned it. I'm young, so I've done it a bunch of times.RAIN at the Palms is a great club (in fact all theirs are great), if you are going on a Saturday check out Perfecto. It's not top 40, it's more dance/house but it's just a realllly cool club. They have amazing guest DJ's (like top in the world DJs spinning each week, if not Paul Oakenfold, he's the resident DJ). Fire, and dancers and all that fun stuff. Also it's really big so I didn't feel as packed. I went to a few others like Tao and it was SO full I couldn't move, it was no fun. You MUST be 21 to do clubs, drinking, gambling. They will card you, you will get kicked out so don't try it. This ain't no pansy security either. It's serious business. You need to be 21 to check in, the guests do not, but remember they can't be in the casino (you can only walk through) they can't watch you gamble, they can't go in the bars or the clubs. I went plenty of times under 21 and had a great time. But remember a lot of Vegas is about getting wasted and gambling.Best hotels for young people Planet Hollywood is my fav (they have a lot to do for the under 21 crowd) and Mandalay Bay, if you are on a budget Excalibur and Luxor are more than adequate. Just don't go anything under 3 star on the South Strip or 3.5 star on the North Strip. (Where as excalibur and luxor are do able, circus circus and stratosphere are not nice!)haha wow just noticed it's today :) but maybe this advice will help someone else!
