wong2kl Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Hello,This is my first ever post. A couple of my friends and I would really like to see NYC when the Christmas decorations are up. We would like to plan a weekend trip (Arrive Friday leave Sunday) after Thanksgiving but before Christmas. I was hoping I could receive some advice as to when hotel rooms would be cheapest between those dates and how much we should typically bid for the cheapest dates? We would like to stay in a 3+ hotel and think the optimum regions would be Times square, Midtown East, Midtown West, Empire state buidling, Chelsea, and Central Park South.Thank you in advance!
AaronJB Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)We prefer to be able to go on a confirmed date or set of dates to do research for a trip. What is your max budget per night for hotel? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase when you are ready to book.
wong2kl Posted September 21, 2009 Author Report Posted September 21, 2009 Thank you. And thank you for responding. I did not give a confirmed date because I just wanted to know if you could recommend a certain weekend. But it looks like the weekend of December 4th would work for everyone. Collectively we do not have a budget limit per night but do you think it would be reasonable to have a max of $180 per night?
thereuare Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 How many rooms do you need? (and do you need more than double occupancy for any of the rooms)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. wong2kl Posted September 22, 2009 Author Report Posted September 22, 2009 We were thinking about just getting one room. Hopefully with two queen sized beds. Would that be possible in NYC?
thereuare Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 It may be possible and certainly can't be relied upon.PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy and there a VERY HIGH percentage of rooms in NYC that only have one bed and no room for a rollaway. You may have other options, how many are in your group? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 If you have four in your group, I would recommend using HOTWIRE for NYC, not PRICELINE.
wong2kl Posted April 18, 2011 Author Report Posted April 18, 2011 We ended up not using either as our group was concerned about what hotel we would get. Somebody else ended up handling the hotel. They booked a hotel around 10 ave i forget the name. I just remember it being close to the madame tussauds wax museum. It wasnt very nice and im sure we could have gotten something much nicer for the price from hotwire. Next time i will just handle it myself.
thereuare Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Thanks for closing this thread. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
