I need help in identifying a 4* hotel on Hotwire for $66 a nights

No, sorry, haven't had the time... need to pull an archive of the board and re-install, which is going to take a little time to implement. I had hoped to do it in the last few days, but have had some other things sidetrack me.

I'm supposed to be meeting with somebody over the weekend who will be pulling the arhive for us... once that's done it should take 2 minutes, but the archive needs to be unpacked, and is better in his hands than in mine :)

The above matches both the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort and Towers and the Westin... i'd favor this one more likely being the Sheraton, but either would still be among the possibilities.

Isn't the Westin listed in the Resort category and not 4*? I do not want to end up with the Sheraton Buganvilias so I was going to bid on a 'Resort' level category and hopefully get the Westin or Marriott.

Is there a resort showing up on HOTWIRE for your dates? I only got one and it was in Nuevo Vallarta area. By the decription, I think it's actually up in Punta Mita.

I don't blame you for not wanting the Sheraton. That's what I just got on PRICELINE in the 4* category.

PRICELINE and HOTWIRE use different rating systems... HOTWIRE uses the "resort" designation as an amenity icon (and still assigns a star rating to the hotel) whereas PRICELINE uses the "resort" designation as a star category itself (ranking it above 4* hotels and below 5* hotels) As the Sheraton is currently listed as a 4* hotel, you should be able to avoid it by bidding the Resort category on PRICELINE.

Since I can purchase at room for 4 nights directly with the hotel for $119 a night, I was thinking of bidding about $80 to begin with on PRICELINE. Your suggestions? I don't think I want to go much higher then $90. I can actually get a room for $160 with breakfast each day for 4 days and only pay for 3 days. Which comes out to $120 a night for 4 nights.

Thank you. I'll try that stategy. I don't see a 'resort' hotel when I enter all areas of Puerto Vallarta on Priceline which surprises me since there are so many hotels in the Puerto Nuevo area. I would have thought some of them would be listed as Resorts. I'm a little nervous about doing to re-bidding with adding a zone because I do not want to stay in that area.

If you go to PRICELINE (the bidding side... not the retail side) and place a checkmark next to Nuevo Puerto Vallarta, what is the highest rated hotel offered?

If you UNCHECK Nuevo Puerto Vallarta and then checkmark Puerto Vallarta (so that only Puerto Vallarta is selected) what is the highest rated hotel offered in this zone?

Highest rated Nuevo Puerto Vallarta is 4*. Highest rated Puerto Vallarta is 'Resort. Thanks for the clarification. I'll let you know how the bidding goes and will use your PRICELINE link.

I bid $55 for just Puerto Vallarta area RESORT. it now say I can increase by $15 and bid again without changing my zone or dates. I have never seen that before. Not sure I want to just up $15 at a time.
