Priceline Hotel: 3.5* NYC (MTE) Roosevelt

Hello everyone,

i would like to get a 4* hotel for the giving time frame in Midtown or Downtown. I dont really want to spend more than 150$ and would concluding to this amount be willing to decrease the star level to 3 1/2.

Can you give me any bidding strategy help, i.e. when is bidding more efficient (weekends or weekdays different?) etc.

I tried bidding for mte and mtw for 4* and 3 1/2*. Went from 100-140$ without any success.

If nothing is possible with the money, i wouldnt mind changing regions, but i was planing on moving around town by feet and would like to be somewhat central. thanks for you help, any advice will be appreciated.

It's not clear from your post, can you confirm you first want to try for a 4* hotel up to your $150 limit? (and then if rejected you'll lower to 3.5*, is that correct?)

As "midtown" isn't a zone, can you please indicate exactly which zones, by PRICELINE name, you're willing to accept... we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow.

yes, i first want to try for any 4* hotel in mtw/mte/ts/soho/wallstreet. If that wont succeed i would be willing to go onto 3* or 3 1/2*.

One more quick question... you havent' included CPS in your bidding of acceptable zones, and most find this zone just as convenient as the other midtown areas. Did you want to avoid this zone because of a hotel you don't want or that it doesn't work well for your particular needs for this stay... or is this an acceptable zone as well? Also, what about ESB? (would think if Downtown is acceptable then perhaps ESB is as well)

At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB, and Downtown...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...

What an oddysey...

after trying for a 4* Hotel in MTW/MTE/CPS/ESB/DSF/Chelsea/MSG/TS without success for 140$ i went down to 2,5* for not more than 120$. Still not hotel wanted to accept and when i finally found one hotel which wanted to accept my creditcard couldnt accept a charge higher than 800$. So i lost that bidding. This morning i continued with another credit card and after selecting the same regions i got:

Hotel Name: The Roosevelt Hotel New York

45th And Madison Avenue

New York, New York 10017

Your Offer Price: $140.00

I think im quite happy with that, though i was actually aiming at the barclays. However, judging from the pictures i think it is a good bargain.

This property gets some mixed reviews, but for the price i think it's a very good value for this time of year and a good location for getting around the city.
