mloradites Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 Ok So I am going to NYC for an event Oct 22nd, staying by myself. I would like to stay 2 nights and depart Saturday. I will be coming and arrive via Amtrak to Penn Station. I don't care about having to ride the subway up and down the island or even taking PATH over to NJ. I just need a place to sleep and dump my luggage. I would like 3* or better. Realistically what kind of pricing do you think I can get for a 3* or better and where should I start my bidding? Thanks in advance!
AaronJB Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)What would be your max budget per night, and are there any areas of the city that you would not be interested in staying in?Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
thereuare Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Is your budget your primary concern? (it sounds as if it is) If so, Jerey City is likely going to be your best bet, imo.As AaronJB asked above, approximately what is your budget? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. mloradites Posted September 21, 2009 Author Report Posted September 21, 2009 I am going to say up to $160 or so, my quivering is that in Manhattan I know i wouldn't be far from any subway stations almost anywhere, in Jersey City Area I don't really know at all what is where. Are any of the bidding zones for Jersey City having better closeness to PATH or connection there to? For example I saw on Hotwire (I have looked at both priceline and hotwire) I saw a $73 3.5 start in the Meadowlands. My overall thing is I'd like to save money if I can, but if I can be assured of closeness to Public Rail/Subway Transport by being in Manhattan I'll bite the bullet.Hope this helps explain what i'm trying to do!
thereuare Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 All of the 'known' 4* hotels in Jersey City will put you close to a PATH train.PATH train access is good (it runs frequently) except as you get into the 11pm-2am hours it tends to slow to about every 15-20 minutes... from 2am-6am it can be every 30 minutes). So as long as you're not heading back too late or can tolerate a short wait on the platform, there shouldn't be any issue.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
