tekob Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 I am bidding for 1 night 10/3 in SF anywhere downtown. I have way too many bids to show, 20 in all as I break them up by zones for as many options as possible and for knowing what zone the win is in at the lowest price. In a nut shell here is what I have already bid on when I summarize the whole process. . . 4* USE, USW, SOMA, EMB $754* USE, USW, SOMA,EMB,CC $854* USE, USW, SOMA,EMB,CC,MAR $954* USE, USW, SOMA,EMB,CC,MAR,FW $1034* USE, USW, SOMA,EMB,CC,MAR,FW,SSF $110Any suggestions?
thereuare Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 What is the best deal you're able to find thru conventional booking channels? What is your maximum bid for this stay (or before you consider lowering to the 3.5* level)HOTWIRE has a 4* in the Embarcadero zone for $155/nite and other 4* properties at $185+ (although i haven't yet checked to see if any/all of these are likley 4* rated by PRICELINE as well)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. tekob Posted September 21, 2009 Author Report Posted September 21, 2009 I have found the same option that you are quoting of $155 for 4* Embarcadero and $189 for 4* USW thru Hotwire. Expedia has the best seen deal of $159 for the Grand Hyatt (USE) next best is $199 Nikko (USW) and the Palomar (Soma?) $239 the Clift (USW) is $256, Park 55 (USW) $259 and the Palace (Soma) $269 as of this moment.
tekob Posted September 21, 2009 Author Report Posted September 21, 2009 I am open on the 3.5* bid. It seems there would only be Sir Francis Drake and Club Quarters available in the downtown area. Sir Francis Drake is actually higer through conventional avenues at this time, Expedia $309 but Club Quarters is $114 for a standard room. So I guess I only want to bid to around $120 for a 4* befor I cut back on the bid price for the 3.5 * assuming I would only get Club Quarters for lower than $114.
thereuare Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 On my search at Expedia i'm not seeing the Grand Hyatt for your nite.To bid at the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* USE, USW, SOMA, EMB...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* USE, USW, SOMA, EMB and re-bid zone4...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $120Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. thombaugh Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Bad weekend for San Francisco, as there is free concert in the park which draws about 300,000 people. The whole city is booked up, but I did get wharf 90$ radisson sat night and was happy for that
tekob Posted September 24, 2009 Author Report Posted September 24, 2009 I tried on PRICELINE again yesterday.4* USE, USW, SOMA, EMB I started at $90 and using free rebids along with checking out and changing combos bidding up to $130. I also tried for a 3-1/2* for up to $115.No luck so far! I may or may not try again. What is lucky is I booked a backup room with Club Quarters through Club Quarters for $114 two days ago. That went up to $269 as of yesterday on Expedia!
AaronJB Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 Nice timing on your CQ booking! :) Must be something going on during this time period in San Fran.HOTWIRE is showing a 4* in USW for $145, which may be an option if you go any higher on PRICELINE and continue to have bids rejected.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.
