PartyGirl Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 I'm planning a trip to Vegas on 11/3 for 4 nights (11/7) and would love to stay at a 5 star for during my trip. Any advice for bidding? I fear, like most, getting stuck in the Trump, so should I just bid in the Strip south zone to "guarantee" Mandalay Bay?Does the $20 trick work with rooms purchased through opaque sites? I have some HOTWIRE questions as well that I will post in the other forum. Thanks!
PartyGirl Posted September 19, 2009 Author Report Posted September 19, 2009 I'm planning a trip to Vegas on 11/3 for 4 nights (11/7) and would love to stay at a 5 star for during my trip. Any advice for bidding? Hotwire has 1 5* (that is not Trump) available- as the date of my trip approaches, will I begin to see more hotels being offered or is this the best time to buy?Is there any way to decipher which hotel this is?Thanks again!
thereuare Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. The '$20 trick' is often hit or miss, but it has more to do with the hotel clerk 'playing along' and hotel occupancy levels (sometimes there's just nothing the clerk can do) than how you booked. For starters... HOTWIRE will only shown one hotel at each star level in each zone (the hotel with the lowest offering price is the one shown). What is your budget for this stay? What is the price of the 5* currently offered on hotwire? What are the amenities associated with this property? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. PartyGirl Posted September 20, 2009 Author Report Posted September 20, 2009 What is your budget for this stay? What is the price of the 5* currently offered on hotwire? What are the amenities associated with this property? The hotel is $177, up from $159 when I first checked a couple weeks ago. I'm hoping to pay $120-140. Casino, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Spa Services.
thereuare Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 The above matches previous reports for both the Wynn and the Venetian, so either of these would be my best guess. If you're not willing to stay at the Trump, then you won't be able to safely bid the North Strip zone on PRICELINE, as you could receive any hotel in the zone that you bid at the star rating (or higher) that you select. You could restrict your bidding to the Strip South zone, but i would also consider a back-up plan, as THEhotel doesn't come up to often, and when it does, it's usually for more than $120-$140.Le tus know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
