SC Charleston Best Western King Charles Inn Downtown

My wife and stayed at the King Charles Inn on our last trip to Charleston, and we enjoyed the stay. There was renovation going on while we were there, but we knew that in advance. We stayed in a newly renovated room, and had no issues. This is what I'd call a mid-scale hotel versus a more upscale hotel like the Mills House where we've also stayed. However, the hotel offers some advantages over other similar quality hotels. There is free parking (a big plus in Charleston) and free internet service. On the subject of parking, the lot fills up quickly. When we took the car out, we always returned mid-afternoon and didn't have a problem finding a spot, but if you come back at 6pm, you may find yourself circling for while waiting on someone to leave.

The staff was friendly and the hotel is in a very good location, you're only minutes away from all the attractions in downtown Charleston. The room was a little small, but included a mini-fridge and was clean. The parking lot is in the interior area of the hotel and is single level, not a parking deck, and it only takes a couple of minutes to get to your room.

If you can skip a few of the amenities that the more upscale hotels provide, then the King Charles is a nice place to stay.
