Higuy Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 I've been trying to book a hotel in the Copley/Theater District for Oct 16-18 on Priceline. Last bids were $150 for 3.5 star, then bid $90 for 3 star, but no luck. Was able to get Sheraton Back Bay for $90 (3.5 stars) last month. Is something happening that weekend? Any advice? Thanks!!
thereuare Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates are date specific, so it's not unusual to have success for one set of dates and then not be success at the same price for another set of dates. It could be something as simple as only a few hotels in the zone and they have weddings/conferences booked for these dates with out of town guests of the airfare reserving a block or rooms, or some larger event taking place in town. Here is one event i found taking place during your stay:10/14/2009 - 10/19/2009 American Academy of Family Physicians - 2009 Scientific Assembly13000 attendees13K is actually a pretty large conference for Boston and i suspect that is at least a contributing factor to your rejected bids. What is your maximum bid for this stay? Are any other nearby zones acceptable as well? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Higuy Posted September 18, 2009 Author Report Posted September 18, 2009 Thanks for the info! Yeah, a 13K conference could very well be the cause. Also, I'm looking for a room on Fri and Sat and usually you can find better deals on weekends after the business travelers have gone home. But looks like this conference goes through the weekend I'm interested in.I like Priceline's Copley zone because all of the hotels in that zone are very close to a T station. But I might expand out to other areas as you suggested and take a chance on getting a hotel not as close to a T station. As for max price, I need to find something, so will continue to bid and let you know what I end up with. Thanks!!!

jm333 Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 The Head of the Charles regatta is on Saturday and Sunday. It draws 8,000 athletes and 300,000 spectators over the course of the weekend. It's a tough time to get a hotel room, nevermind a deal :-/
AaronJB Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 Thank you for the information, jm.
