imtheman Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 am taking my daughter to ny (1 adult, 1 child) on 9\25-9/27. have never done this before. would like a few pointers. glad to use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links. would like:cps, mte, mtw, tstd. budget up to $200/night. willing to be flexible with area and willing to use HOTWIRE if better. prefer a room w/2 beds. TIA!forgot to add 3+ stars if possible. willing to pay closer to 200 for a better hotel. tiajust went through the preliminaries and they offered a 4 star in those areas for $175/night. no other info. thanks
imtheman Posted September 17, 2009 Author Report Posted September 17, 2009 empire state area 4* says:Hotel price and additional information$172per room, per night * This hotel typically charges all guests a resort fee regardless of how the room is booked. The hotel collects this fee of about $15 per room per night directly from you, so it won't show in your Hotwire
AaronJB Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 What are the amenities showing? What are the dates of travel? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
AaronJB Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Welcome to the site. Can you clarify what you mean by "preliminaries" - did you bid and get a counter-offer for $175 or are you looking at PRICELINE's retail side? Please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchase.
thereuare Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Please keep all posts in the same stay in the same thread. If you haven't seen it yet, this is a good read: I've Never Used Priceline or Hotwire as it explains the similarities and differences between the two services. If you want separate sleeping accomodations (beds), you won't be able to guarantee this with PRICELINE, only with HOTWIRE and then by searching for triple occupancy (2adults/1child or 3adults/0children) but in Manhattan this usually raises the price somewhat considerably (but sometimes not, so at least worth searching HOTWIRE to see if within budget or not)From there, let us know what is most imporant to you... separate beds, cost, star rating, knowing what hotel you may be receiving before your purhase, hotel star rating, location, etc, etc. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 The amenities for the 4* ESB property are common for NYC but they match previous reports for the Carlton on Madison Avenue so that would be our best guess for that one.The Central Park property matches previous reports for On the Avenue so that would be our best guess there. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. AaronJB Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 The 4* MTC could be a match for several different hotels - Royalton, Sofitel, Helmsley Park Lane, Flatotel, Sheraton and Warwick all have been seen with this amenity set. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
