Priceline Hotel: 3.5* NYC (MTE) Millenium UN Plaza

Hello...Great, helpful site! I think the problem is that my stay is so very long....trouble getting anything!

I realize this is an expensive time of year for nyc and anything I do is going to be somewhat costly for 10 nights....but I have been working it for close to two weeks now with nothing so I need some suggestions...

Have read this site...and get it with the re-bids.....(since I have bid and bid numerous times it would be impossible to lists all my attempts, but I will give you a rough idea)

Have started out with 4 star in central park south....$125....exhausted the free rebids /close browser

use your link to reopen go to mtw,....close reopen at mte, then theater/times sq, empire state, (basically every area with the exception of chelsea) end up bidding up to $215 for 4 star (that is my max for 10 nights)

move on to 3 1/2 stars...similar strategy....using free rebids, closing browser/ reopen with your link....increasing bid all the way up to $190...

move on to 3 star.....etc. bidding all the way up to $185,

my first choice in area is central park south, 2nd choice mtw, 3rd choice theater/times sq, 4th choice empire state, 5th choice mte, 6th choice madison sq,

(really not interested in downtown, or chelsea...will be taking my mother to sloan kettering so neep to be more upper east (but not so far up that I can't do other things)

with this many nights...budget is a definite concern...$215 a night MAX...would prefer to be around $165 (but I don't think it is feasible)

have attempted to split dates several different ways....

10/09-10/14...10/14-10/19...just about every combination in between...... any suggestions would be helpful! Any other options to consider? my back up situation is a friends apartment upper east side (she is so gracious and I have stayed with her before, but just would like to find a hotel) thank you....thank you

Are you willing to bid up to $215 for a 3.5* and 3* hotel as well?

I also see on the East side (not the best access to mass transit but probably convenient for the hospital (assuming need to be at 68th and York) is the Millenium UN Plaza for $219/nite for your complete stay. (could take the M15 bus up First Ave and down Second Ave to/from the hospital... or a short taxi ride if bus not convenient)

Thoughts?

I would like to give it one more go....willing to pay $215. for 3.5 star.

Although I do like your idea of the millenium, (the price is right and I know it is a great place) it is a little farther away than I would like...and no convenient subway access.

How would you split the dates?? 10/09-10/19

I am most interested in central park south south.....times sq/theater.....mtw........$215 max for 3.5 (don't really want to go any higher than I already have for a 3)

It truly will be my final try and if it doesn't fit... it just doesn't fit...I will explore the millenium, continue to look at HOTWIRE. Thanks so much for your help. it is greatly appreciated.

When splitting a bit I always try to get as many of my nites in a single purchase as possible without getting 'middle dates only' (which would require an additional move), so i would loop thru a bidding strategy, trying each of the following date combinations:

10/09-10/19

10/09-10/18

10/10-10/19

10/09-10/17

10/11-10/19

10/09-10/16

10/12-10/19

10/09-10/15

10/13-10/19

10/09-10/14

10/14-10/19

Yes, it will take awhile to bid, but given the number of nites i think any savings you experience would make it work the effort. If you need help with a bidding strategy to cycle thru these dates let us know and we'll supply one for you to follow.

So...with my final round of bidding again and working your date split selections....I got the (mte) Millenium UN plaza 3.5 @ $192. for 10/12-10/19. (A wonderful deal since the $219. rate that you mention has disappeared...best booking rate I could find was around $320.)

The persistance paid off and even though mte was not my first choice I am pleased. It really gets a lot of great reviews and I am familiar with this area

of town...(and it really won't be bad getting to/from Sloan Kettering).... as far as my first few nights, I think we will stay with our friend (won't feel too imposing with just 3 nights)
