owencera Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Hi, I have bid 75$ for NMA+Loop earlier today and got rejected and was asked to raise to $97. I later tried only NMA at $100 and got rejected. I preferred NMA but I have also stayed in Hyatt twice and loved its location, so before adding the free bid areas (I was also scared of ending up there perhaps unnecessarily), I tried NMA+Loop at $110 and got the Hilton Chicago.Although Hilton Chicago might be a fantastic historic hotel, I am very much dissapointed as it is way south of where everything is, and overlooking the grant park area. I feel I had overbid just to get a bad location in an expensive hotel (with scary photos of rooms, terribly old furniture, thin walls, etc.). Perhaps, I should have tried $80 and maybe than I would get Hyatt or Palmer House. I have used PRICELINE many times and this is the first time I am deeply dissapointed. Such far hotels should be considered in Greater Chicago area as many more similar hotels are counted in there. :)
thereuare Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Sorry to hear that you're disappinted with the results and this location is a bit far south for your needs. As you know, you can end up anywhere in the boundaries of the zone, so if this part of the zone wasn't good for your plans than it probably would have been best to not add it... or if you chose this area to go with HOTWIRE where you may have been able to take an educated guess as identifying the property beforehand (and thus had a good idea of the location within the zone)Also, when adding a 'live' zone (a zone that contains the star level you're bidding or higher) it's always a good idea to lower your bid in order to give yourself a chance at winning a hotel in this new area for the lower bids which were previously rejected. Feel free to ask for help before your next hotel stay and we'll try to lend a hand. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.I'm sure you'll be able to make this work for your needs with just an extra bus or taxi ride or two. :)Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
