Hotwire Hotel: 4* DC (Dupont Circle-Embassy Row) Hotel Palomar

I'm new to this forum but it looks like a great resource from reading many of the posts!

Please allow me to request your assistance in finding a hotel at a great rate. See details below:

A family of 4 (3 adults and 1, 8yr child) is planning a 3 night stay in DC on Nov 1 - 4, 2009.

Our first preference in terms of location is Dupont Circle/Woodley Park area, second preference: White House/Capitol Hill area.

Would not like to go below 3 stars. Our budget is flexible depending on hotel star rating, amenities, location, etc. but in general we are looking to pay $120-130/night for 2 rooms or no more than 250/night and preferably less for 1 room that can accommodate all 4 of us (Hotwire only?).

We don't really have a preference between a shared room or 2 rooms as long as we can get a great rate.

We are currently looking at a 2 room suite at the Embassy Suites near Dupont Circle where the best available rate on the hotel's website is 259/night plus taxes or 235/night for full prepayment, no refunds. We were hoping to do better than this. A recent search on Hotwire (I prefer Hotwire for the fact that beds are guaranteed for our entire party) shows a 3 star hotel in Dupont Circle for $166/night with the following amenities: fitness center, pool, restaurants, business center and laundry in that order. However, there is also a 3 star for $162 with all the above amenities plus hi-speed internet access located in Georgetown. Could any of these be the Embassy Suites? Again, we don't necessarily need to stay at ES and would accept alternatives if the price is right. I see hotwire hotels includes Palomar and other very nice hotels in the area which would be more than acceptable.

I hope I provided enough relevant info in this post, otherwise if I omitted anything please let me know.

The 3* hotel looks like a Holiday Inn, but it's a 'missing' a golf icon since previously reported, so not certain, but didn't spend too much time on it as i think i have something much better...

Go to HOTWIRE and search 11/1-11/4 for 4adults and there is a 4* hotel in the Dupont Circle zone for ~$195/nite (your rate may differ slightly) with: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business and if you click the CONTINUE button on the next page (to the right of the map) it will show a Tripadvisor rating of 4.5/5.0 (which is excellent)

This is a match for the Hotel Palomar and for $25/nite more (that's just $6/pp) you get a higher rated hotel with excellent user reviews and is also in your prefered zone listed above. The Paloar also hosts an evening wine reception which is a nice touch at the end of the day.

Just wanted to let you know that I followed your advice and did in fact get the Hotel Palomar for $199/night for 4 adults! I'm sure we'll enjoy it.

I think this is a very respectable rate and well within our budget also considering that the best available rate I could find for the same hotel/same period was $279/night. Many thanks for your assistance.
