vitasoy1437 Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Hi, I am looking for 1 hotel room for 10/24-25 only. The rates are pretty high, ranging from $200 to about $270, because there is a convention at MGM that week. I am looking for most 4* or 5* properties on the strip, like Wynn, Venetian, Mirage, TI, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, MGM and Caesars. I am trying to avoid places like Trump, Luxor, NYNY. It does seem hard to avoid Trump if I want to bid for the North Strip, so I am open to use HOTWIRE as well. Would it be easier to bid for properties in Center Strip? My max is about $90. Just wondering, am I allowed to post on the Hotwire Nevada side at the same time? Please advise! Thanks in advance.

vitasoy1437 Posted September 17, 2009 Author Report Posted September 17, 2009 Hi, I updated the last HOTWIRE post I had, however I ended up with a $250 deal for a huge suite from Venetian. Also, I have a back up of $97 for the Paris this time, therefore, my max is $90 for this time. Thank you.
thereuare Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 I don't think you're going to be able to beat your back-up deal... i assume you reserved that some time ago (when rates were much lower)? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. vitasoy1437 Posted September 18, 2009 Author Report Posted September 18, 2009 A friend of mine is member of the Harrah's Club and got the offer, but the rate is only based on availability.
thereuare Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 And is that rate available for the nite above? Is there a firm reservation in your (or his/her name) which can be cancelled? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. I have checked with the hotel, and that low rate is only for one room. For the $147 per night at Caesar's, the 2nd room will be $200 something. They have Rio for $47 (1st room) and $145 (2nd Room), but we'd prefer a place on the strip. I checked Rio's site, and average rate is $250 per room, and $190 on priceline. It seems most places are pretty expensive that week.Should I still try to bid via priceline or go with the Rio price? Thanks.
thereuare Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 It comes down to what you're willing to spend.... i don't believe you're going to get close to the price of the Rio (~$100/room average). So it comes down to if you're willing to pay more in order to be on the strip... if so, how much more over your back-up (the Rio) is it worth? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. vitasoy1437 Posted September 30, 2009 Author Report Posted September 30, 2009 Thanks for the advice, the rates seem pretty high for that weekend, mostly at $150+ per night. I guess I'll stay with my back up. Just wondering, if I want flights + hotel, is it better to get them separate (like bidding them)? or vacation packages? Thanks.
thereuare Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 Usually your plans need to be very flexible to bid on airfare (unknown depature/arrival times), and usually the best deal will be to buy 'retail' airfare tickets and then bid on a room. However, sometimes you can get a good bundled package, so it should at least be searched for in order to determine if there is anything deeply discounted when bundled together. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
